They have now won as many games as they did all of last year.

Wow, I'm pleasently surprised. Gettins toughed out a bases loaded situation in the top of the first allowing only one run and the bats answered in the bottom of the first. Hats off to the girls and hoping for a sweep tomorrow.

Phil, maybe (likely) you're not really educated on the major differences between softball pitching and baseball relevant to the stress on the arm or lack there of in softball. Facts are Fouts has thrown only 11 innings more than Cornell and Fouts is throwing less than she has during her hs career.

I coached the game for years. Typically you do not see the same kind of arm injuries with Softball that you do with baseball. The underhand motion is a natural motion with much more minimal torque on the shoulder and elbow. Their arms can become tired in a tournament or over the long haul of a season and they can lose velocity because of it. I would speculate that Fouts has a non arm injury, since they called it minor. An arm injury for a pitcher is major. My guess is back or neck, or hamstring, etc. For all we know she sprained her ankle walking to class. I just hope she is back sooner rather than later because this team is damn good, and with her healthy they can be great!!

If you know anything about softball or baseball, then you know damn good teams get shelled occasionally.. I am pretty sure the Red Sox got shelled a time or two last year on their way to the World Series. It is the nature of the game. But now Bama is up 9-5, no quit in this team.

The example of this that still haunts me as a Braves fan is the 1996 World Series. Shelled New York in yankee stadium in games 1 and 2. Lost the next four.

9-8 Bama now

The amount of fielding errors this year is terrible.
