But he hadn't signed the extension yet either. Cignetti's signature has already dried on the extension at Indiana. It would cost us too much to get him out from under the contract. It's not happening.

Deboer ain’t getting canned right now and he isn’t going to hire from the fans’ wishlist.
Deboer knows he has byrne over a barrel.
Deboer fully believes they have the right recipe.
Bottom line - where bama is right now is not acceptable. Look deeper than the record.
what you gonna do when the wine runs out, greg?

That’s why I keep saying it’s time to tell Sexton to go frick himself with his ridiculously one sided contracts. The only thing left for him to do is put in a clause that his coach owns the next university that fires them.
Don't blame Jimmy Sexton for excelling at representing his client's interests. Why is it his fault? Greg Byrne is the one who agreed to it.
Absolutely...next tme make sure the mitigation clause is there. You know who just got fired and had one? James Franklin. So it can be done We just need an AD who isn't a pussy.
Don't blame Jimmy Sexton for being great at what he does. Blame our administration for being incompetent.

You're lecturing this guy about whether or not this he should be an Alabama fan?
For the record, I've been a fan for 60 years. So don't even think of using your same bullhit argument on me.
Let me tell you something, kid. REAL Alabama fans DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY.

Ok Jimmy
I mean, do you actually have anything substantive to add to this point? Or are you just some dumbass kid trying to be cute? Because that's all you've demonstrated here.
You're like some child crying "Waaahhhh. It''s not fair! Indiana is too good at what they do and they kicked our asses!"
If Byrne gets his arse kicked by Sexton, don't blame Sexton. Blame Byrne.

I still think it’s crazy that 3rd and Golding beat Captain Bowl Cut in the Sugar Bowl

Cignetti has won one Big10 championship. He is a good coach but comparing him to Saban and Kirby is ridiculous. He has about the same resume as Kalen DeBoer at this point.
Add a natty to that.

Wanting to compete and win NCs is not demanding perfection.
I started watching bama under Shula in ‘05 and that team had more heart and wanted to win more than this team from ‘25

Then kids were playing from the heart and not the wallet. You're going to need to move on past the PAST.

The uncomfortable side of this is that back then kids were very much playing for the wallet too. It's just that the wallet got filled by the NFL, not CFB.
Even moreso than now, back then the majority of kids came from poor homes. The prospect of an NFL paycheck was a massive motivator for so money.
We've seen it in the NFL for decades: talented player comes into the league, gets paid, and loses motivation. He becomes "fat and happy." The drive that made him great in the first place disspears.
Now we're seeing that dynamic in CFB, because instead of getting their paychecks as rookies, they're getting it as freshmen.

Grandpa take your meds and calm down.
Everyone should demand accountability but maybe your age you no longer can comprehend the difference between demanding accountability and perfection.
Some of you have a real hard time reading. And for the record gramps I saw my first game 48 years ago though that does not make me special like you think it does you.
Enjoy your nap this afternoon.

I am sorry, were we in the playoffs this year? Yes, which means we were competing for a chance to win a NC. Twelve teams(10 technically) earned a spot to play for a NC but I guess being one of the top 10 in the country is not good enough for you and some others.
The issue now with the current culture it is almost a loss for a coach no matter what he does. Playoffs are not enough for some fans either NC or bust. So be it if that is your expectations. Fans want kids that play hard and with heart but complain when we recruit those type out of the portal because we did not take the mercenary looking for the biggest paycheck that only cares about their draft status and no loyalty to a program.
This team had issues and was inconsistent. Not one fan knows why we had the issues. Hopefully going forward we will see a different product.

I'm pretty sure that 4 years ago, no Bama fan anywhere had "Head Coach Pete Golding Wins National Championship" on their bingo cards. But it could happen.
It's ironic that Golding's conservative "kick the 50 yard plus field goal" instead of going for it on 4th down (ala Lane K.) helped him beat Georgia.
But...his "third and Golding" defense caused him to lose the game against Miami. Going into prevent defense with still over 3 minutes left in the game was not a brilliant strategy.
