Byrne is proving to be confidential in his search & probably good idea. Lots of times it leaks to media, school panicks & reups current contract on a coach & he stays put.

I agree with both of you, Donovan would be a grand slam. But if blue bloods like UCLA and Arizona and Kansas are open, with all their resources for basketball and tradition, why in the world would he choose Alabama? Just being realistic. Certainly you call and ask, but if Billy wants back in the college game, there are bigger jobs than ours. Hell, I think if he’s really in play, there’s a handful of schools that would fire their current coach just to hire Billy D.

The only questions I have would be, will UCLA be willing to pay top price? And are Kansas and Arizona about to be put on serious sanction? Those would possibly be our only advantages

Adding another state isn't that important because the Big XII doesn't have a network, and UCF would be a big travel burden for all the current Big XII.
There's probably also a fear from the middle tier Big XII schools that UCF could instantly be a better football program than them.
