It's only a partial joke. I'd rather get medium talent with a solid system and high effort than relying on top talent to just 'mesh'. The latter will win you games (even against high competition), but the inconsistency, as well all know over the past few years, is incredibly frustrating.
Of course, high talent and solid fundamentals are even better, but I'm not greedy.

As for Forbes: he passes my analytics. Programs improve under him as HC, he's well-regarded and worked under Pearl and Marshall. He's from Iowa, a midwest state. He's known to be a recruiter (he owns the juco scene) and is great at building relationships. Gotta hear from him on how he plans to build a winning program.

Guys, Ive decided to retire from making troll threads. My last few have fell flat. My latest one where I blindly defend Pitino like LSU fans do Wade didnt live up to my expectations so I am done with Troll threads.

Just talking about how Sampson seems like a lock and it will cause a little bit of chaos if he isn't hired because other coaches that are thought to be secured will be willing to jump. Even as an Arkansas fan, I think he is overselling it.
The rumor was that we are willing to spend 4M but those are message board rumors.

Yeah, I'd rather Bama sit out on a bidding war. Arkansas will have their hands full with Houston and I'm not sure he moves to be honest. I bet Kelvin would scared ishtless giving Hakeem Olajuwon the news.

I would normally be less positive about it but Sampson really likes our AD and basically got him hired at Houston. We will see.

I'm 100 percent with you. I've been pushing for Forbes so much already that I'm starting to feel like I'm his agent or hype man. Lol. So I won't say any more about him unless he's hired. But if it's not going to be a really BIG name (like Matta or Beard), I'd be happy to end the search with Forbes & start looking ahead

I wonder if he's even on Byrne's radar? I mean, I've tweeted the name to him multiple times, but I doubt random fan tweets get a lot of attention. Really, the only place I see Forbes mentioned is on here, and a few people on Twitter that I suspect are you guys. I'm all for hiring him. I just wonder if he's actually getting consideration.

Forbes is great at mixing incoming freshman & juco transfers to fill immediate needs for his team.
If he is Byrne's guy he'll need to pull this off right away.

T.J. was the main recruiter for Fred Hoiberg at Iowa State. He's been solid at South Dakota St.
