Bill Battle would have 100% went out and hired Mike Anderson now.

NB4 @CoachingChanges calls Alabama racist for not immediately hiring Mike Anderson.

Nah, he would’ve never fired Avery to begin with.

ETA: because he’s not racist :rimshot:

His only two interviews - Mike Anderson & Andy Kennedy. And then he flips a coin and hires the guy who loses the coin flip.

So apparently Aaron Suttles got Sideways with Bruce on the radio today....Did anyone hear it and was it worth going and listening to?

It wasn't a huge deal. Suttles asked at what point the season turned around for them. Bruce felt the need to explain how they finished where they should have based on their talent. While Bruce was listing SEC teams more talented than Auburn, Suttles broke in and asked if USCe was better than them. Bruce cut the the interview short after talking about how they tied with USCe in the SEC.

I missed the initial interview, but they were hyping up this "confrontation" about an hour after it happened, and replayed some of the audio.

Short answer: No, it's not worth listening to. It doesn't even come close to some of Saban's milder media rebukes.

What happened: Suttles was asking Pearl when his team "turned the corner" during the season, what happened to make them become successful. He said based on their talent, people expected them to be great all year. Pearl said he was "going to take him to task" for saying that, and was in the midst of explaining they performed about as he expected based on their talent level. He was naming SEC teams that he thought were more talented than his Auburn squad (Tennessee, Kentucky, LSU) when Suttles interjected "South Carolina?"

Pearl said, "No, I didn't say South Carolina." He went on to note that they played them in the SEC tournament and beat them.

That's it. That was the extent of the "confrontation." No yelling, no noticeable tension.

In general, I like 3 Man Front, but sometimes they attempt to drum up controversy and issues where none exist. They did something similar late last summer when they were announcing Jalen Hurts would start the first game against Louisville. They were reporting it as fact when it was nothing but conjecture.

Great, more competition for a head coach. Just what we needed.

What are you baws talking about? When Battle got the first “no” from somebody, he would have pissed himself and called Mike Davis and offered him the job over the phone.

Sweet baby Jesus, if Arkie gets Sampson, A&M gets Buzz, and Vandy gets stuck with Dawkins we’d better nail this hire or we’ll be fighting with the ‘Dores and Cuonzo for the cellar!
