So, has anything officially been released by the university yet on Avery's departure?

No reason to swing for the fences and miss again like we did with Marshall.

For what it's worth, one of the guys on 3-Man Front on JOX said at lunchtime the BOT told Byrne to swing for the fences with the hire.

Now, what that means, I don't know (or if it's even true).

In before bigsc says Billy Donovan

In all seriousness though, that’s probably what any BOT would say to their AD if they had the budget of Alabama. I just wonder who we could throw a crapload of money at to get here. Chris Beard would be a dream, but I imagine his buyout is huge as well as us having to go 4+ million to get him to bite.

So let's go down the "swing for the fences" path for a minute and compile a list of realistic "swing for the fence" coaches. Who ya got?

Here's my list (in no particular order) of "swing for the fence" coaches who might actually listen:

- Tony Bennett
- Chris Beard
- Billy Donovan
- Brad Stevens
- Scott Drew

Brad Stevens is not even remotely realistic imo and Scott Drew isn’t “swing for the fences” worthy.

I hesitated to put Drew in there, but he's been at Baylor since 2003 so he seems firmly entrenched and hard to move out of there, but he's a dang good coach.

Of course I put Bennett in there and they're losing to a 16 seed again...

From my Alabama sports email group:

There is chatter from Kentucky that UA is interested in Cronin. Cincinnati just lost to Iowa in the first round.

Would UCLA be willing to pay for Donovan?

Cincy fans on Twitter are pissed at Cronin because they make the NCAA tournament every year and lose in the first round it looks like.

I didn't know the great David Hobbs was on Steve Prohm's staff at ISU. Wouldn't that be interesting.

If you go to YouTube and type in Mick Cronin you'll find a litany of ejections and altercations with opposing players and coaches. Not interested. Seems like the Napoleon complex is strong with this one. I'm not short-sighted enough to know that many feel that Saban has the same complex, but you don't see him getting kicked out of football games lol.

I know. Just want to see what you guys think.

On a side note, my goodness UVA has a paint drying type style of play.
