Don't NFL teams do this for players that leave for another team , just to save face with their own fans?
E g. When Suh took the big contract with the Dolphins, the Lions came back and basically offered him just a little less than Miami, so they could tell their fans, "we did all we could to keep Suh with the Lions."

Some message board guy told the shockers they'd get good news today, he thought. I think he was just talking about the fact that WSU was going to offer Marshall more money, which should have been obvious to everyone anyway. They took it as more, and got all excited. Now, Forde says sources have told him Marshall and family will visit Bama on Friday. But, that guy could tell me water is wet and I'd have to get a second opinion. Shockers are shocked regardless.

CGM reportedly visiting Bama friday.
There was a guy over there posting a link to a SN article that reported WSU was offering close to $4m/yr.

Highlights of today:
-Lucky on BOL said that Marshall did verbally agree to the contract before Bill Battle met with him Monday.
-The holdup seems to be his family.
-Shockers are working on a new deal for him right now (last ditch effort?)
-This could stretch through the weekend.
-Pat Forde from Yahoo is reporting that Gregg and his family are supposed to visit on Friday.

Seriously, Forde had been so consistently wrong, it's the only reason I'm not celebrating, and busting out the Saban guitar solo gif.
But seriously, that is huge news if true. And another shocker said their kid's school is off on Friday. If we get them on campus, that means he's signing. Gregg wants the job, and his wife is on the interested, but hesitant. Once we roll out the red carpet, it's over.

Lucky just confirmed that it "is the plan". Obviously, Marshall could give in and accept WSU's offer before then. But, apparently, they're planning to visit.

@JasonKingBR: Source close to Gregg Marshall has informed Bleacher Report that the coach is staying at Wichita State. Won't go to Alabama.
