3 of those 7 seniors are new transfers. 1 is a freshly scholarship'd walk-on.

4 of them are starters though. Lewis could probably start as blocking TE/H-B if he could stay healthy.

It's also TBD if Latham is back.

So what do we think is the deadline for guys to sign and be eligible for the Spring?

The Spring 2 semester starts on 2/9, so I imagine that's the cutoff?

They signed the QB from TCU.

Let's look at this from a net positive, negative, or neutral perspective:

WR Incoming-Noah Rogers - 33 REC, 441 Yds, 2 TDs
Cederrian Morgan, TF
Maurice Mathis Jr, TF

WR Outgoing- Germie Bernard, Isaiah Horton, Cole Adams, Jalen Hale

Net negative overall- with the wildcard being does Ryan Williams play to his potential

DL Incoming: DL Kedrick Bingley-Jones - 25 TKLS, 0.5 TFL

DL Devan Thompkins - 31 TKLS, 6.5 TFLs, 3 SKS, 1 FF

DL Terrance Green - 15 TKLS, 1 TFL

DL Caleb Smith - DNP

DL Desmond Umeozulu - 19 TKLS, 2 TFLs, 1 SACK

Outgoing: Tim Keenan, LT Overton, Kelby Collins, Jordan Renaud, James Smith, Keon Keeley.

Net Negative on volume alone. I think we replaced some decent football players, some of which probably hadn't reached their full potential, with some decent football players, some of which haven't reached their full potential.

LB Caleb Woodson - 58 TKLS, 2.5 TFLs,
Outgoing- Lawson, Green, and Jefferson
Net negative

CB Carmelo O’Neal - 36 TKLS, 10 PDs, 1.5 TFLs, 1 FF
Outgoing- Domani Jackson, Cam Calhoun
Probably a net neutral here. Jackson was scared of contact but he wasn't completely terrible in coverage

I think we got better at both specialists. I think we got worse at all the other spots just comparing what we brought in to what we lost.

Development of our 2024 and 2025 classes is going to determine how far we go in 2026, because we did not have a net positive in the transfer portal to replace the experience we lost

I get what you're saying if you only consider bodies leaving and coming in, but some of these moves have secondary effects, like allowing RW to move back outside, getting Brooks in the starting lineup, etc. So I actually think the WR corps may wind up being more productive this year.

Same thing with the changes at CB. I think our secondary, and CBs in particular, will be better than last year with Lee getting a full-time role opposite Zabien and allowing some of the ultra-talented younger guys a chance to see the field.

South Carolina transfer Desmond Umeozulu is going to be a name for Alabama fans to monitor in the spring.

Umeozulu boasts a 6-foot-6, 255 pound frame with a 6-foot-8 wingspan and 10-inch hands.

The rising senior played in 36 games as a Gamecock. He registered 30 tackles and 1.5 sacks in three seasons.

While the stats are not necessarily glaring, there is certainly untapped potential present.

Umeozulu sat behind the likes of Dylan Stewart and Kyle Kennard the last two years. He had an opportunity to gain experience and grow as a player during that time. Some of that was put on display in 2025.

There is an opportunity for Umeozulu to play an expanded role at the Bandit or Wolf positions in 2026 given the departures of multiple key contributors (Keeley, Russaw, etc.) along the defensive front.

There are some areas that Umeozulu will need to work on, but he will definitely bolster Alabama’s defensive front heading into the 2026 season.

I agree on the WRs we have for next year. Benard was our sure thing so hopefully someone will step there. Horton I think he was underutilized. Not sure if the issue was Simpson, coaching scheme, or on him. I think Morgan is going to the see the field early.

Why did you include the true freshman with the incoming receivers but not the other positions?

Yep, this is the crux of 2026 season. Since they decided to go for value production instead of star production in the portal to fill the holes in this roster, we're going to see what this staff can do when developing players from high school. This team is going to be built on internally developed talent for the most part.

Frankly didn't feel like typing it out, but I don’t think the freshmen move the needle for next year on the front 7 so I didn’t see the need to even include them. Morgan at WR I think is a guy that will contribute right away

Of course, along with another year of development. It’s why I was just comparing incoming to outgoing

I don't remember MSU's OL being that great but I don't what they're like at the individual level.
