Boz, do you know if we put out any feelers to Coach Strong?

Why not? Get someone from the NFL with Saban connections then

Why not change coordinators every year?

I mean, do I need to explain the last 3 years? It's been written about and discussed ad nauseam.

It’s hit or miss sometimes we get some guys and it’s a homerun and then they leave etc. if we could get some concurrent guys for 5 years or so we would be set.

Let’s do that then. Never understood Saban hiring Golding from UTSA anyway

That's never going to happen and it's peoples unrealistic expectations that even suggested he was going to be fired to begin with(assuming he doesn't, I again have 0 inside information).

I personally think Saban looks at things a whole lot different than fans and realizes we actually did pretty well all things considered. I don't know why people expected 2011 defense with all these injures.

The best thing to do is to keep him around, let him learn from mistakes and improve.

Mark this now. “IF” he stays, 2 more losses next year. He’s a bumbling goofy slob.

Still waiting on someone to explain why a solid, experienced DC would want to come?
Would any of you want to leave your job to go work somewhere when you won't have the freedom to install and run your own system? You all know you wouldn't.

We could have a really good defense next year and still lose two based on all the potential offensive personnel losses.

That’s basically it. It would be the money. Saban has his hand in it all so someone has to be willing to put up with it like Pruitt.

1) Money
2) How many of our coordinators have gone on to become head coaches? Including one that was coaching high school 10 years ago.

Coming to run a Nick Saban defense gets you tagged with Nick Saban qualities and an opportunity to promote somewhere else. That’s why bud.

I find this hard to believe. We all know how hard Saban works his assistants. A lazy coach ain't lasting 2 months under Saban let alone 2 years. Maybe he is goofy but lazy?

Someone like Charlie Strong, might come just to learn from Saban. He’s been a head coach and things didn’t go that well. Maybe he would come to learn how to better manage things.

Maybe not, but it could happen

Look how unkept he is. I just sat listening to that interview and it just sounded so.....so unprepared. Like our defense.

Will this thread get “merged” later if circumstances change?

A position group takes on the personality of its coach. For all of those fans out there that think our only problem with the D was youth and injuries this year, I give you exhibit A; Pete Golding. If this clown stays, and we win next year, it will be in spite of him, not because of him. I highly doubt we win again while he is a coach for us. What frustrates me is that Coach is wasting precious years left. And yeah, I know, the next game I win will be my first. Armchair quarterback signing off.

You all missed the part where I said a solid, EXPERIENCED DC. That would assume he's already successful and getting paid good money.
Some on here were thinking we were going to pull Lake or Leonhard. No reason why they would come.
They were already getting paid, successful in their own defense, and the head coaching jobs find you if you get the job done.
You don't have to work for Saban to get a head coaching job, bud.
Aside from that, if you were right, where are all the experienced DCs knocking down Saban's door to come. Seems to me, Boz just said we struck out with everyone.

I didn’t say they were knocking down Sabans door. You asked for reasons. I gave you multiple reasons. We have rehabbed and spark started several careers directly because of Saban. Be honest with you, I don’t think Saban wants a “huge” hire DC. I think he wants exactly what we have. Someone that will stay and has the makings of being good possibly. Only problem with this is we are at the end of this run and don’t have time for experiments. Golding is a bumbling idiot. I’ll say this, Jimmy Lake was ours if he didn’t get the head coaching gig. It was a done deal.

Imo, a proven DC running his own system, isn't what we need. Our best DCs (Pruitt & Smart) grew up learning, coaching and mastering Saban's system. Iirc, both did well right away in their first DC jobs -- Kirby at UA, Pruitt at FSU. That's why Glenn Schuman is the right hire, imo.
