Other than Ricks starting outside at corner and perhaps McLaughlin starting at center, I don’t think we change a thing. It’ll be the same stuff we’ve seen all year, both in personnel and scheme.

Alabama doesn’t have the coaching staff, other than Saban, to make major changes in just two weeks.

When I see a thread saying we have new coordinators, I'll get excited. Until then our coordinators are about as exciting as a skunk and a possum.

Or, it could be the much simpler explanation of, all those highly rated recruits have talent, but our offensive scheme/plays suck.

Except that our offense was pretty damned good last year with Jamo and Metchie, and we would've won the title, except those guys went down and the rest of our receivers were straight up arse - in fact Agiye Hall was our go to guy in the NC game, and even he wasn't that good, but apparently he was better than the others we have.

Along the same thread, apparently our own staff thought our WRs sucked, which is why they hit the portal during the offseason and picked up 2 WRs. Unfortunately neither one has done jack so far.

So maybe, as we saw in the playoffs last year, our offensive woes have a lot to do with our shitty receivers.

Newsflash everyone: It's 2022 - football is all QBs and WRs now. We've gotta QB. We've gotta bunch of nobodys at WR. It is what it is.

Because they are freshmen and sophomores. Jeudy, Ruggs, and Smith are the exception, not the rule. The reason JaMo was so good is he was athletically superior to every other person on the field and he had been in an elite college program for two years prior to coming to Alabama. Metchie was in his third year playing in the Alabama system and knew exactly what to do every play. This isn’t Madden where you have Usain Bolt at every WR position and just throw it up. Our OC is not helping them with his play calls, or he is running a system that is too complicated for our green receivers. We have had multiple posters show pictures of the route combinations being called and usually, one defender can cover two WRs.

So, Saban brought this up last night.

LINK

quote:

“I don’t think it’s really fair to assess anything that the offense has done, because we’ve been a little bit left-handed ever since Bryce got hurt in the Arkansas game,” Saban said Wednesday night. “He basically hasn’t been able to practice for however many weeks -- three weeks -- and played pretty well in two games.

“But the continuity of what you do and how you build continuity and timing has been a little bit distorted.”

Saban noted the “good news” that backups Milroe and freshman Ty Simpson were able to take more practice snaps at quarterback, which he called “really beneficial” to both.

“But it’s not really fair to, sort of, to see how we’ve, sort of, developed offensively because probably the most important guy on the team -- any team -- is the quarterback,” Saban said. “And most importantly on our team because of the quality of player Bryce is. So we’ve been a little bit out of sorts.

“So I really challenged the players to be able to do things better, whether it’s run the ball, run routes better, make more explosive plays -- whatever it might be -- but I think it’s a little bit unfair to judge anything that’s happened in the last couple weeks.”

He has a valid point.

True, but I wonder how much BY has been able to practice this week. I imagine he took it verrrrry easy during the bye week, but I wonder what type of pitch count he's on now (if any).
