CNS is the GOAT and I hope he’s here for many more years. Having said that, as an old fart Bama fan who’s closing in on a half century of watching the Tide, I think I’ve seen that it’s time to change our basic philosophy. College football has evolved to the point where our longtime DNA of being defensive minded first is going the way of the dinosaur. Oh, defense still wins championships, but nowadays, that statement needs to be amended to add “but only if you have an explosive offense too.”

“The same things win, that always won... And we just have a different bunch of excuses if we lose.”

Just my two cents but I think Saban will be involved in recruiting a new head coach before his retirement. He may even have him here under his belt for a few seasons. I believe Nick will always have a personal love and deep respect for the Alabama football program, and he wouldn't want any ol Joe to come in and ruin all of the hard work he's created and sustained.

I like Dino at Syracuse.
I like Venables at Clemson.
I like Cristobal at Oregon.

Outside of those 3 it would take a big name head coach jumping ship or a coordinator from the NFL.

Dino Barbers is already 58 years old.

My list:

Matt Campbell---young up and comer, great pedigree, turned ISU around. Could join NFL soon.

Neal Brown---young guy that turned Troy around.

Bill O'Brien---consistent competitive in NFL and showed potential at PSU. Might be an "NFL > cfb" guy.

David Shaw----Consistent winner, kind of a "poor man's Bama" when it comes to earlier Bama offenses under Saban. While he is Stanford alum, he may want to make more $$$$.

Assistant coaches?

Mike Tressel at Michigan State
Jim Leonhard at Wisconsin

What about Luke Fickell? Never thought I would see a mashing offense at Cincinatti.

Has Saban taught you nothing? We. Don’t. Look. Ahead.

Who gets to make this decision when it's time? If it's Greg Byrnes and he alone we at least have a fighting chance to get a real good coach. If it turns out coach Oats is everything we could ever want in a basketball coach and I'll confess I'm pretty excited about this guy so far, I think everyone's confidence level has to go up.

You can add Jeff Monken of Army to the list. Great pedigree and from midwest as well.
