215 cases

I think Morgan County is the only new county added to the list.

Yes. They don’t want you walking into the ER if you are positive.

So I didn’t see if government backed mortgages like FHA are offering deferment or forbearance. I do know that Regions is offering 90 days forbearance which means on day 91you have 4 mortgage payments due, the current month and the previous 3. That really makes things worse. My question is to the bankers and mortgage people out there. Assuming that regulators say hey, unique time and situation, we are going to relax some of the rules temporarily, how hard would it be to just defer the payments to the back end of the loan?

I read that the Brits either have or were planning to do this very thing.

It depends on what gets added before it becomes official. I saw the Dems wanted mortgage payments suspended and all consumer debt(loans & credit card payments) for one year. That part of the stimulus bill would be government giving money to the companies behind the loans and mortgages.

Not nearly as bad as in Spain where they abandoning the elderly.

Every time I read folks fussing about how this is being handled I can't help but shake my head.

As recently as October before anybody ever heard of COVID-19, Johns Hopkins University released a 2-year long comprehensive study about global pandemic preparedness. The US was ranked #1 overall and #1 in five of their six categories.

We are so damned spoiled. Most of our people have no idea at all just how good we have it.

IMHO, the only way this is going to work is if you suspend payments on consumer debt like you said, AND suspend interest payments on the securities backing those loans. If nobody is getting paid on either side, it's just a wash until the deferment is over, right?

During a City Council meeting today (Tuesday), Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin proposed a city ordinance to shelter in place. Recess has been called until 4:30pm without a resolution.

Some of the news once again didn't show the Lee Co. #'s today in their top counties for the virus slides. Same as yesterday.

They are tied for 3rd with 21 cases but weren't listed.

Just read over the order. We will still be allowed to do essential shopping and folks are still allowed to go for walks, bike rides, runs, etc. Just no congregating. Seems like a good idea for a week or so to me.

It will be interesting to see how over the mountain communities treat this. Will they adopt the same measures or not? Maybe it doesn't matter, ultimately.

KEY POINTS

Democrats and Republicans are getting closer to a deal on the massive stimulus package.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told CNBC on Tuesday morning that there is "real optimism" Congress can clinch a pact within a few hours.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin agreed to enhanced oversight of a $500 billion bailout fund that Democrats had criticized, according to a senior administration official.

That request was understandable.

What about all the other nonsense they wanted?

Only a matter of time before the County announces a similar shelter-in-place order, IMO.
