It’s been pretty equal from my perspective. I’d guess that over the past several pages, a very small number of posts pertain to the Coronavirus in Alabama, if any at all do. It’s just easier to blame the “far left and anti-Trump” ones because there are significantly less of them.

This right here is why you can not open things back up so quick. People are just stupid and unless force to will not follow guidelines. This is Jacksonville FL beaches only a hour after they reopened them this weekend.

A local news station claimed that picture among others shown nationally were old pictures
The drone video shows the beach not very full at all

Just an observation, but if you're a governor in a competitive state with an election this fall might as well go ahead and start moving your personal stuff out of the mansion. Regardless of party, it's going to be a bad year for incumbents that ordered lockdowns in states where the residents don't think that the outbreak is significant.

I agree for the most part and one of the issues I have had across the board is that many decisions are being made based on upcoming elections not what is best for the people.

No where has it been equal. I would wager if I go back and read this thread the number of attacks against Trump from a very few posters is far more then any attack against any named democrat. If I am wrong please show me. Yes there are many that want to defend him or our country when said few posters like to attack it. But overall it is the left/anti Trump that has come out swinging and the majority of the attacks have been from them at the right. That is saying a lot as you mentioned there are very few of those posters on this board.

I'm not sure about other pictures but the photo posted above by TideWarrior that Fox News used along with a lot of others that all look pretty similar does have a specific photographer credit and date and was acquired from Getty Images.

Fox News was duped by them?

I’d say China has been attacked way more than Trump has in this thread. A lot of that is certainly deserved, but as soon as I Have chimed in to point out our own government, including Trump, has botched our own response I’m accused of being a Chinese sympathizer, a communist, an un-American POS, and accused of derailing the thread. Yet hardly any complaints of getting off topic when China is being criticized.

Welcome to a nation were public office is now a career instead of a time of public service.

Until you enact term limits for congress and at least in Alabama's case state legislators decisions will always be based on winning elections.

The mortality rate for a person aged 40-49 is double that of a person 30-39. From age 50-59 it triples from the 40-49 rate. That can’t be explained by simple aging.

Actually, aging explains most of it. Heart disease, adult onset diabetes, kidney problems and other conditions increase TREMENDOUSLY between the ages of 30 and 60. Even obesity can be age related. Most men gain weight until they are about 55 then begin losing about 10 lbs per decade until they die. Women gain weight until they are 65. Obviously some will have gained much more than others, but if they were already a little overweight pr even obese by their 30's, it only gets worse until they are seniors.

there’s not enough for herd immunity yet and we are still struggling with and will continue to struggle with this for a while.

Herd immunity only increases if you allow people to be exposed to the virus. Or if you can invent a functioning vaccine. Since there isn't likely to be a vaccine approved for a long time, our best hope is for a therapeutic drug treatment to be identified. Then you can mitigate the serious cases, and not worry about the rest of them.

I'll say that you, TideWarrior, have constantly brought a lot of good posts to this thread and I always read and consider your opinion.

However, if I go back and read through this thread, there are certainly a lot of posts such as ones calling Cuomo a complete idiot or claiming that NYC is faking their death count or that the media is faking almost everything. In fact, a lot more of those than one's critical of Trump. Yet, those just get 8 upvotes and everyone moves on. Would you not classify all those as "coming out swinging" politically as well?

On the other hand, any opinion that would not thrill Trump's political advisors generates a ton of people "defending" Trump. (The degree to which deflecting all blame to WHO and none to our own leaders for seemingly ignoring the obvious fact that China was feeding WHO all their information is but one example).

So, you are completely right that anything which doesn't tow the Trump line "derails" the threads. Those are the specific opinions that cause all the responses.

However, do we really want a thread in which any post which criticizes the media or a democrat or a blandly generalized "government" is fine but you can not criticize Trump?

Everything that can be posted in this thread is always already political since it involves what we as a body politic are doing right now, successfully and unsuccessfully.

In going back over the thread, the only thing I find particularly bothersome is how a handful of posts are uncivil to a degree that would embarrass some mamas.

I'll leave Prevatt out of this since his posts on the grass length at Bryant Denny turn into 20 page mudslings involving him and the people that love to argue with him.

Prevatt wouldn’t have gotten banned for talking about the length of grass. So quit trying to minimize his insults.

This whole thing is a damn mess. By the time one state gets back to normal, I believe it’s just going to blow up elsewhere. I really don’t know how to get rid of it unless they fast track a vaccine

Already established to be a picture from before the outbreak. There is actual drone footage of the mostly empty JAX beaches from yesterday.
