MSNBC and Fox News? Absolutely. Some shows on CNN? Absolutely. Most of the programming on those channels are more entertainment than news.

Most evaluations of media bias and reliability do not consider those networks to be actual news providers, and put them in the "offering opinions on the news" category. Stuff like the AP, Reuters, the WSJ, Politico, ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, The Hill, USA Today, and NPR are considered to be actual news sources. Now, to be fair most of those sources are seen as either neutral or leaning left. Really only The Hill and WSJ are seen as conservative outlets among that list. The problem is that the majority of the country gets their "news" not from those sources, but from the aforementioned 24 hour networks, the radio, and the internet, all of which tend to fall into the opinion category as well as further from neutral along both sides of the political spectrum. And that is why things have become so fractured and hyperpartisan. People aren't forming their own opinions anymore. They are being told how to feel about the news by pundits who are masquerading as reporters.

In my opinion, this is when news started going downhill. To fill time they put commentary shows on, who pretend to be unbiased, but they are basically live editorials. They need to go back to just reading the facts without adding extra shite. It might have been dull, but nowadays, news people believe they are celebrities

Can the media just do their job? Their job being to OBJECTIVELY report the news, just the facts, without spin, and let ME decide how to interpret and digest it. And by doing that job, they perform a vital function of keeping the parties honest fulfilling their role as the Fourth Estate. Otherwise, they are just part of the problem for both sides.

You are what you eat and we have been dining on propaganda and fake news for quite a while now. Propaganda is designed to change how you feel more so than what you think. Emotions are stronger than logic and these folks know it. It's the same recipe for starting wars. I would have to say that news outlets have gotten pretty good at their new age job description.

I am confused by the current market for chicken products. Everywhere I am reading people saying they can not find chicken in the stores. Grocery store managers are saying they can not get enough to keep it stocked. Yet according to the USDA current reports of the chicken market demand retail demand is down, meaning the stores are not actually purchasing it to keep the shelves full. Also some of the largest chicken plants in the country that are here in NC are packaging so much chicken can not get it sold to the stores are currently selling it wholesale by the box to people ranging from 87 cents to $1 a pound. I just purchased 50 pounds of chicken breast this morning for $45.

Someone along the supply chain is not being honest regarding why the stores can not keep it stocked.

It could possibly be that chicken consumption is the same or lower than it was, but there is a shortage of chicken packaged for retail due to more people buying groceries rather than eating out. Conversely there would be a huge surplus in chicken packaged for wholesale (restaurants) because many restaurants are closed or carry-out only and thus not utilizing as much.

Just a guess.

Apparently the Male Room (barbershop in Birmingham off 280) is opening tomorrow with some additional health precautions, despite the governor's orders. I expect to see more and more businesses challenging these orders as time goes along, despite the Karens who would just as soon see everyone sealed inside their home at gunpoint until 2022.

I understand the restaurants not buying as much but it seems the grocery stores should not have a shortage. The state and local police are having to go out and direct traffic due to the number of people showing up for the sales. Some are waiting 3 hour sin line for it. But grocery stores including Walmart are bare for chicken.

Well I knew it was stupid but we were holding out hope it would still happen. They officially pulled the plug on my daughter’s high school graduation next month. They are exploring virtual graduation options. I am heartbroken for my kid. She’s worked so hard and she’s lost her senior prom and now graduation. TheY deserve better.

He actually delivered BPAP machines, which is where the criticism comes from: LINK

Thankfully, hospitals have been able to convert them to more appropriate machines: LINK

Coronavirus hits workers at 5 of big poultry processor's plants

Coronavirus has stricken workers at nearly half of Wayne Farms' 11 chicken processing plants and two of its 17 feed mills and hatcheries in the southeastern U.S., the poultry producer confirmed on Wednesday.

With annual sales exceeding $2 billion, the Oakwood, Georgia-based processor is the country's seventh-largest poultry producer and employs more than 9,000 people in five states: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi and North Carolina.

According to local media reports, Wayne Farms workers tested positive for the virus at two poultry facilities in Alabama, including one worker at the company's plant in Dothan and a "small number" in Jack.

Smithfield Foods on Sunday indefinitely suspended operations at a pork plant in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, that accounts for as much as 5% of U.S. pork production. On Wednesday, South Dakota Department of Health officials confirmed 80 new cases of Smithfield employees. Another 126 cases connected to those Smithfield Foods employees brings to 644 cases connected to the plant, according to a spokesperson for South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.

Smithfield plans to close its dry sausage and bacon plant in Cudahy, Wisconsin, and Martin City, Missouri, facilities beginning later this week.

Facebook will start warning people who 'like' or react to fake coronavirus news

Facebook announced Thursday that it will start warning users if they have liked, reacted or commented on harmful Covid-19 posts that the company has found to be misinformation and removed.

The feature will roll out in the coming weeks, Facebook said in a blog post.

"These messages will connect people to COVID-19 myths debunked by the World Health Organization including ones we've removed from our platform for leading to imminent physical harm," Guy Rosen, Facebook's vice president of integrity, said in a blog post.

"We want to connect people who may have interacted with harmful misinformation about the virus with the truth from authoritative sources in case they see or hear these claims again off of Facebook," Rosen said.

Gilead Sciences Inc. GILD+2.56% shares rallied in the extended session Thursday following a report that one of the company's drugs showed promising results in treating COVID-19 patients. Gilead shares surged 12% after hours, following a 2.6% rise to finish Thursday's session at $76.54.

Late Thursday, health-care media site Stat reported that nearly all 125 COVID-19 patients in a late-stage clinical study at the University of Chicago treated with Gilead's remdesivir had been discharged after a week of treatment. Stat reported that 113 patients had a severe form of the disease and that two had died.

The University of Chicago results, however, are only part of a larger study group that includes 2,400 patients with a severe form of COVID-19 and 1,600 ones with a moderate form. Gilead expects to start releasing results in April.

Last week, an analysis published in the New England Journal of Medicine claimed most COVID-19 patients given remdesivir showed clinical improvement...

With more serious studies beginning to come in for these possible treatments, remdesivir seems to be showing the most promise, from what read.

I wonder how it is administered?
