Agreed. However, college kicking is always a bit of an adventure it seems. So I can't argue with scoring, going up 7, and forcing a team with a bad OL to execute a 30-second offense to setup a hail mary attempt with no timeouts.

Absolutely. My issue is people dumping on Talty when he’s been Mr. Automatic from that range.

I was thrilled we took the ball out of the hands (foot?) of Talty. Not that hes untrustworthy or anything, but crazy shite can happen on a game winning field goal in a rowdy away game environment, even with a chip shot.

So was Talty lol.

Dude was probably thrilled he ended up kicking an extra point instead of trying a 43 yard game winner.

I question whether some of yall even watch the games. Talty has shanked one kicked. He’s not missed inside of 40, right down the pipe on his extra points, and this all in his first year. This narrative that he is Cade Foster 2.0 is simply silly at this point.

It’s strange really. Like all kickers he has limitations. Our coaching staff now know after a few tries what his is. He is a 40 in guy. I’m fine with that. We go for everything on 4th outside of that, end of story.

Staff has learned his game day effective range and their play calling in the high red area had adapted to reflect it. From 45-30, they're mostly going for it on 4th and medium to short. Feel like the decision to hunt for a big play instead of line it up on 3rd and 10 tells you their thinking. They knew they needed 10+ yards to feel good about lining it up and playing for the walk-off FG.

The fact our play hunting for 10+ yards ended up in the end zone is mostly about South Carolina just electing to let us score if we got within Talty's automatic make range. The self-scouting we're doing on our own kicking situation is certainly being scouted by a Beamer-coached football team.

Talty is not Cade Foster, he's Jermey Shelley. Except this staff has no Cade Foster type of option and had to accept their kick/punt/go decisions are 100% bounded by their version of Shelley's range.

Beamer said in his post game presser that he told his defense to let us score

Worse than that decision, imo, was not going for two after their last TD. A 9 point lead would have been huge. I thought for sure they would go for it. Dumbass.
Yeah that made no sense to me either.

Talty looked nervous, which made me very nervous. SC made a stupid but fortunate decision for Bama. I think if they tackled Bernard, Talty would have missed and the game would have gone into OT.
