I agree with Bucc that he probably would have ended up in the first round. However, at the time he declared he was probably right on the cusp.
His situation was pretty similar to Fluker last year IIRC. Hopefully similar results and coming back really pays off for Bama and for Him.

It also depends on how many snaps he plays. He may play in base more now, but the defense will probably play less snaps than it did last year, and with our offense he may be out by the time the second half starts.

Coop didnt practice this morning, and AJ showed no signs of a foot injury.

Precaution on Cooper or is he really hurt?

AJ McCarron bruised his foot late in the Saturday scrimmage, but we see no evidence. There’s no tape on either shoe. There’s no limp. It’s anybody’s guess which foot is bruised. If anybody panicked Saturday when he or she heard the news of an injury, relax. The senior quarterback looks just fine.![]()
The big news is that Amari Cooper is watching drills from the sidelines, but the sophomore wide receiver is not wearing a black jersey. He was the star of the scrimmage, catching four passes for 182 yards and three touchdowns (75 yards, 60 yards and 39 yards). He still has some tape on one hand, but we don’t see evidence of any other problem. Alabama coach Nick Saban didn’t mention an injury after the scrimmage, so this probably is no reason for another panic attack. Players are bumped an bruised routinely in preseason camp. Cooper obviously is not a player with whom the coaches want to take any chances.
Freshman Reuben Foster suffered a stinger Saturday but is participating in drills with the inside linebackers. A stinger refers to the area between the shoulder and neck. Again, we can’t tell where Foster shouldered a blow.
Freshman Robert Foster was not participating at a 100 percent level in wide receiver drills. We’re not sure why. It probably is no big deal.
Deion Belue did not participate in the scrimmage because of a sore hamstring. The senior cornerback is participating in some drills but not others in this Monday practice.
Hope Cooper is okay...

Giving the secondary a confidence boost without Coop abusing them.

@Andrew_Gribble: AJ McCarron's brief synopsis of the foot injury: Got stepped on, doesn't know who did it, feels great now.
Still keeping the guilty party a secret. Where are the insiders when you need them?

Heard a rumor somewhere it was Drake
Posted on 8/12/13 at 12:55 pm to alabamabuckeye
I heard he organized an all night drinking party

I bet one of the freshman RBs framed him in hopes of stealing his spot on the depth chart

"Damn Drake, when did you grow 2 inches, add 40 pounds, and grow dreads?"

I'm picturing Henry wearing #17 and walking around telling everyone he's Drake

If true, this is why I wasn't that high on Drake. Off the field concerns.

Cooper left the scrimmage Saturday after re-injuring the same ankle that bothered him last year and caused him to miss the LSU game.

Drake will be our #2 back. He's very, very good. Looked great Saturday.

-- Redshirt freshman Brandon Greene, who had been working behind Cyrus Kouandjio at left tackle through the first week-plus of camp, was with the tight ends and H-backs. He wore a colored jersey on top of his white No. 58 jersey, so perhaps that allows him to bounce back and forth with the position groups. He looked smooth catching passes. We'll find out more about this when Nick Saban talks with reporters Tuesday.
-- Some moves among first-teamers could be in the works for the offensive line. When the group split into "left side" and "right side" players, Arie Kouandjio, who had been working as a first-team left guard, went with the "right side" players while Austin Shepherd, who was previously at right tackle, went with the "left side" group.
-- Of note, redshirt freshman Alphonse Taylor was with the "right side" guys. We'd been seeing him with the left guards during the spring and the first week of camp.
-- The offensive line worked exclusively on individual blocking drills during the two periods reporters were allowed to watch. From the looks of it, these were new to some of the players, as assistant coach Mario Cristobal was doing plenty of teaching at the start and throughout the drills.
-- Wide receiver Amari Cooper and cornerback Deion Belue -- both of whom were sidelined at this morning's practice -- were nowhere to be seen during the two media viewing periods. It's safe to presume that they were in the training room.
-- Dillon Lee was an outside linebacker at the start of today's second practice.
-- Let's just say Nick Saban was having loud, one-sided discussions with a few of his defensive backs. It's the loudest we've seen him so far during media viewing periods. Just another byproduct of the "dog days" of camp.
We are fricked at TE
