Jacobs will still be our only post player with a post-up game.

Who the hell has been on the team long enough for you to see if they have improved? Releford? Yea he has. He had a team full of Juco players and fricking head cases to start of with. I mean you got 3 foreign players and the rest are young as hell besides Releford.

I am commenting in the thread but I support AG for one more year. There I said it

being a consistent tournament team and making the tournament every year aren't the same thing. we have never been an every year team, and very very few programs are. if you think missing the tournament, and going 12-6 in conference for that matter, are a legitimate reason to fire a coach, you are delusional, period.
and why can't we be one of those teams? because there's like 3 or 4 of them in the country and we're not. it's just the way the world works. football has spoiled the shite out of you people.

I've probably been the harshest person on the board with Jacobs, but his game yesterday has given me a faint hope for him. He definitely regressed this game with his rebounding and boxing out though. I also still hold out hope for Gueye with his post-up offense. He's not bad when he posts someone up and keeps his pivot foot down. As far as the 2-foot shots go though he is hopeless.

while he is obviously a liability on defense, he had probably his best defensive game of the year yesterday, hardly a regression.

most of the sophomore guys showed me little to no improvement from last year.
15 came in over weight. I blame that on the kid and on the coaches.
Gueye and Carl showed small baby steps but not enough to establish a post presence.
the other 3 sophomores were sporadic at best as one game they would be good and the next they barely showed up in the stat sheet.
We laughed at Gene Chizik cuz his FB players were not being developed. I am afraid AG may have the same rap against him.

True but unless the NCAA changes the rules of the game where they let you sub players mid play like hockey he still has to go on the other side of the court and try to rebound. Im just saying is his post game that good that we forget about his lack of rebounding. You know what the lack of rebounding doesnt even piss me off. Its the fact that he doesnt try and just looks and act like nothing ever happend and he doesnt give a damn. Not to mention that he doesnt even catch most of the entry passes that he gets in the post.

strongly disagree. Lacey improved, Randolph improved, cooper improved, gueye improved a lot, retin improved a lot, Jacobs regressed.
Anthony grant is a good coach and alabama is lucky to have him.

I said he regressed from yesterday to today. I had zero faith in him outside of scoring until yesterday.

gonzaga and butler have two of the best coaches in basketball, get a grip.
Posted on 3/16/13 at 3:16 pm to BigBird09
that's fair. I misunderstood.

I agree with you. I think he is too nice. He gets on the refs but ive never seen him chew a player out.
Posted on 3/16/13 at 3:17 pm to TideSatchel
Then let's go get one of the best coaches in the country
Posted on 3/16/13 at 3:19 pm to mrbroker
lol, so he didn't play as well, that's sports, what's your point? what do you suggest we do about it? who do you think would wanna coach here after we fire Anthony grant after a 21 win season? who should we have signed instead of Jacobs or should we sign when we "release him." you keep talking all this shite, but all of your opinions lack perspective. it's like you think every coach is nick Saban or something.
Posted on 3/16/13 at 3:20 pm to Bama Bird
that's not how the world works. those guys aren't coming here. especially of we fired a good coach after going 12-6 in conference.
Posted on 3/16/13 at 3:20 pm to TideSatchel
so they can get a good coach and Bama can't. if we are going to pay 2 mil per year can Bama get a top notch coach. I don't know the answer to this but I bet the money people at Bama are talking to the power brokers about options should next year not see major improvement with a veteran team.
Posted on 3/16/13 at 3:20 pm to TideSatchel
True he played well against Tenn he had a game where he played like that last year as well. I just want to see him give as much effort on the boards as he does to make room in the post. Maybe you guys are right. It probably does fall back on CAG. I mean if you dont jump for the rebound and the coach doesnt say shite I guess its ok.
