The only thing he was good at was getting called for charging. I'm pretty sure he set an NCAA record for charges per minute played while he was here.

Ben Howland
Has that guy been any further east than Utah? I don't think he's leaving the west, but I could be wrong. Marshall on the other hand is going to want more than 2.1 mil. He was aiming for over 2 mil a couple years ago before he was the big name he is now. I do think he'll go to the highest bidder though. I'm just not sure we're willing to give anyone that kind of starting salary.

EDIT: Forgot Howland coached at PITT, so I guess he is a possibility.

He was at Pitt. I think he would go for a job that wasn't near as much pressure as UCLA or Pitt. A change has to be made and if we can't get Howland or Marshall, get an up and comer and hope he's better than Grant.

And he made great inroads in Georgia so he could definitely get us talent. Plus he's been to 3 final fours. He'd be the best hire our university could make.

I don't think it'll happen, but I'm on board. I just hope if we actually do it, we do it soon to give the new guy a chance to persuade our commits to stay, though them staying is unlikely IMO (especially Coleman and Mitchell).

I just hope we don't give Grant another year. That'd be more squandering of talent and false hope.

I say go for the splash.

Bill Battle went out and got a Final Four coach who'd coached in a National Title game.... for our WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM, routinely the worst team on campus with next to no history.

Bama basketball CAN be a powerhouse, we need the right guy, I trust Battle to get someone good.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Here's the key part of that. Don't get me wrong, it was a great hire, but there's a huge difference in hiring a quality women's basketball coach and a quality men's coach. Any high-major school can hire a great women's coach if they can offer a little more money than the other schools interested in upgrading their women's program (not many schools are). There just isn't much interest in women's basketball.

Grant made 5,205$ today if you were curious.

While I no longer support Grant, I will be supporting our team this year. We are not the school that quits mid season and I don't want that attitude in any part of our athletics.

Well I don't think anyone is pulling for us to lose. We all want to be successful.

Does anyone know what Grant's buyout would be if we were to fire him this year?

Sound like a dirtbag who doesn't know what it takes to "finish it". If we hired him, he's got a higher ceiling than Grant, Gottfried.... and probably Sanderson, but the ending would be all too familiar with no titles. Mm

I'd take it.

I definitely wouldn't call him a dirtbag I think he did learn his lesson not to piss off AAU coaches though.

Does it matter?

If it was something ridiculous, there would be no chance of happening so it kinda matters. A guy on bamamag thinks it's 1 million.
