Who cares what Kirby does. The fact is these guys either come in do what they need or they get passed. We have a new DC that has expectations and it seemed since the start of fall camp that the incoming freshman have bought into what CJP wants and a few others have not. M Smith he has been around for what 4 years and just now seeing significant playing time. Basically was given the opportunity by default due to experience. K Sheffield he seems to been given the opportunity but the incoming freshman and others are pushing him and I remember last fall there seemed to be some issues with adjusting to our system. If he is not a fit let him go because the last thing we need is another Kamara situation.

I don't see how Bateman can be considered "the guy" if he's throwing picks in practice and balls at the feet of receivers.

If he's throwing picks everyday, then I agree. But that might not be the case.

WR's want Barnett

I could see Ridley in particular wanting Barnett. The two of them really lit it up at The Opening a couple years ago

Several Alabama fans have been quoted as being happy for Kirby and wished him the best at UGA, except for when he took on Alabama, of course.

It's one thing to recruit against him (Jake Fromm, etc), but if he and/or Mel Tucker are planting seeds of doubt/dissension in the minds of current Alabama players or their families (based on relationships created while working for Alabama), then that is crossing the line, IMO.

It's not everyday, just what he did at the scrimmage was concerning.

Of course the WR want Barnett over Bateman, they love deep passes.

Might not be, there's only been 2 scrimmages. Still concerning if he's the front runner because of his experience and knowing the system and has issues with turnovers.

He isn't but he did not look great at the scrimmage, this scrimmage will tell me ALOT. And South Alabama is correct hurts is a quiet guy and let me tell you why, he believes in showing not talking. Blake sims whom I know personally is the same way. A man of few words. Barnett is liked by his class for sure.

Let me ask if you know, why do the linemen prefer CB over BB? Experience?

I completely agree with you but in the long run I do not think it will hurt us and only hinder him if that is what is happening and it gets out.

But we are also assuming he is doing that and maybe so but in reality we are talking about 1 now maybe two players who have struggled in Saban's system and now have a intense DC that will push them to meet certain expectations. They either buy in or they do not. If they do not and are looking for the easier path because they do not want to compete(earn) their playing time let them go. Because whatever issues they have it is not going to change under Kirby. Especially considering they played for him already.

Coming straight from a lineman they could careless who the qb is minus the calls being correct. If said qb confuse the linemen with an incorrect call they don't like that. But in reality as long as we're winning they are happy. In the end it's about wins.

The exact same mentality Cooper and Julio had.

If Sheffield is gone, that would be the fourth stud recruit gone from the 15 class.

Not much of a stud if the rumors are true and he is getting beaten out by incoming Freshmen. I'll wait and hear an official word from CNS before I assume anything.

**Edit: Just saw the official word that he is gone.**

guys here is the bottom line, he wasn't the best when given 1st team reps. Both AA and Mayden were doing better. He could have made that ground up this weekend. However, he isn't and a guy who has worked his arse off will.

The seventh player to leave or get kicked off the team since the end of spring practice.
