Well, Coach Cool is out recruiting. So, there has to be some sort of agreement behind the scenes.
You can have 10 on the road and until your staff is filled, off the field guys can recruit ie Butch, so until we announce Bo, which almost assuredly will not be until after NSD kool will be on the road.

It seems to me that Pannunzio and Kugliowski are quietly considering other opportunities they may have while still doing their current jobs like professionals who have integrity. I think Saban and both of them fully intend to maintain good relationships and not burn bridges. Perhaps they land and take jobs elsewhere. Perhaps Joe stays in an off-field role. Perhaps Kugliowski also ends up staying. We'll see.

I'm wondering if one of those guys had a medical emergency and have decided to slow down. I'm sure they are just trying to help out right now.
Wasn't there rumors that a coach had a "minor" stroke

I've seen posts on BOL saying Pannunzio needs knee joint replacement surgery and that he has some yearning to get back to S FL and may want an NFL personnel job like he had in Philly.
I get the impression Kugliowski may be just a little too laid back for Saban's program culture. That's just my own gut feeling though.

Alabama’s new wide receivers coach is coming from an ACC school.
Nick Saban is expected to hire Holmon Wiggins from Virginia Tech as the Crimson Tide’s wide receivers coach, according to a report from ESPN.
AL.com reported Monday that Wiggins had emerged as a strong candidate for the job.
Wiggins had been Justin Fuente’s wide receivers coach at Virginia Tech since 2016 after four seasons as Fuente’s wide receivers coach at Memphis.
A former three-year starter at running back at New Mexico, Wiggins worked as a running backs coach at Illinois State (2006-10) and Tulsa (2011) prior to making the transition to working with receivers.

Seems to be a mass player exodus at Virginia Tech going on.

Yep. There are 8 VaTech players in the portal:

Any ILB by chance????? ;)

Imo, Bama doesn't need to take a transfer ILB. Instead they need one (Ben Davis) to leave.

When do you think the "transfers" as in NEED to transfer will start being announced? Poor Gentile Ben so needs to go to Jax State/UNA or WA (dont think he could break into the Troy line up?) but he sure needs to take his talents to another school and see if he can get on the field. Has to chap his arse to see Mack heading to the draft (whether we agree with that decision or not) and he not even have played enough minutes to have a quarter of PT or highlights... Seems his dad would have worked with him in the off seasons to get him pumped for PT?

Wonder why so many are leaving?
Posted on 1/24/19 at 7:47 am to Sebastian
Fuente is having some real issues at VT, culturally it sounds like the clash between what he wants to do and what VT/bud foster value are markedly different and he is failing at making it work along with some real oversights in leadership of the team. For example, from what I read they literally didn't recruit a DL in one class and only one in another, specifically because he trusts defensive recruiting to Foster and the ball got dropped. I actually think fuente is a good coach, but VT appears to be eating him alive.
Also as a separate note about the overall volume of transfers we are seeing:
Putting your name in the transfer portal does not mean you will leave, but the school can unilaterally end your scholarship if you do.
Because this is the first year with this, many players are openly doing what used to happen behind the scenes all the time, talking to other coaching staffs to see if there is interest/opportunity along with many more treating it like most people treat indeed or zip recruiter (just throwing your name and resume in the pool to see what happens).
There will be some kids who schools pull the schokly from and that will be huge news. I don't think we see as many names on a yearly basis transferring after this year simply because the threat of losing a scholarship and landing nowhere will be much more tangible.

So, who will be calling the defensive plays next year?
On a side note, Gordo, AL native Ben Davis needs to go to EMCC or UWA

A month or two ago I asked CrimsonBoz to check into it. He did and said Layne Hatcher is not on scholarship.
Boz also verified that 2018-class nonqualifier Jordan Davis wasn't given an NLI to sign, so he didn't cost Bama a 2018 signing limit spot.
I informed BamaOnLine about both, but apparently they haven't verified it with UA, because they haven't updated their data accordingly.

I think coaches are using the portal as a good opportunity to show the door to some players they wanted out any way. Mix that with your standard unhappy/homesick kids and you can end up with high numbers like VT or PSU.

Think Pruitt is going after Jaelan hard.
