Saw this on RollTideBama......
As you can see Alabama has eight assistant coaches as of January 19. This morning we are watching two new names. Charles Huff who is the Associate head coach and run game coordinator at Miss. State. From 2014-17 Huff coached the running backs at Penn State. Sources told us last night that a deal between Alabama and Huff is on the table.

There's our new recruiter for the DMV area.
Homerun hire if he accepts the job.

That means Joe P will return to getting Nick water to give to the guy that actually gives that water to Nick on TV. Is that about right?

I could see Joe P. coaching TEs next year. He's our ace down in South Florida.

Yay, a hire that actually seems pretty decent!

LINK ]Tracking Alabama's off-field staff changes (BamaOnLine)
quote:
Alabama has to replace five assistant coaches -- and possibly more -- this offseason, but it isn’t just Nick Saban’s on-field staff that has experienced turnover. Several members of the Crimson Tide’s off-field staff, like analysts, interns and graduate assistants, are moving on, as well.
Here, we track additions and subtractions to Saban’s staff outside of the 10 assistants.
Analyst Alex Mortensen to Birmingham Iron
Mortensen is moving into an on-field role with the Alliance of American Football’s Birmingham Iron after five seasons at Alabama. He will coach receivers for the Birmingham branch of the AAF.
Mortensen, a former quarterback at Arkansas, Samford and the Tennessee Titans, first arrived in Tuscaloosa as a graduate assistant in 2014 and moved up to an analyst before his departure this offseason. Also of note, he is the son of ESPN’s NFL reporter Chris Mortensen.

Graduate assistant Kyle Pope to Liberty
Pope will work for former Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze at Liberty as his linebackers coach after spending the last two seasons at Alabama. Pope served as a defensive line graduate assistant for the Crimson Tide under position coaches Karl Dunbar and Craig Kuligowski.
Pope has a familiarity with Liberty after he spent the 2016 season at Presbyterian as a defensive line coach. Prior to coaching at Presbyterian, Pope served on the staffs at Holmes Community College as a defensive line coach and at West Alabama as an outside linebackers coach.
Pope graduated from Jacksonville State in 2015 with a degree in exercise science and wellness with a concentration in human performance. He was a four-year player for the Gamecocks (2011-14).
Analyst Lou Spanos to UConn
Spanos made the jump from an analyst at Alabama to defensive coordinator for the Connecticut Huskies. Most recently, Spanos spent the 2018 season on Sabana’s Crimson Tide staff as an analyst after serving as the linebackers coach for the Tennessee Titans from 2014-18.
A 24-year coaching veteran with experience in the NFL and college, Spanos served as the defensive coordinator at UCLA from 2012-13. In the 2010-11 seasons, Spanos served as the linebackers coach of the Washington Redskins. The previous 15 seasons, Spanos was a defensive assistant with the Steelers, working closely with the linebackers and the secondary.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to join Coach Edsall's staff at UConn,” Spanos said in a release. “I can't wait to get up to Storrs and meet the student-athletes on the team and hit the recruiting trail.”
Analyst Mike Miller to Maryland
Miller will join former Alabama offensive coordinator Mike Locksley at Maryland as his tight ends coach. Miller spent the past two seasons as an offensive graduate assistant under Locksley with the Crimson Tide. He worked primarily with the Alabama quarterbacks and wide receivers.
Miller, who served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Charlotte Christian (N.C.) High School in 2016, worked as a student assistant coach at Clemson when the Tigers reached the national title game during the 2015 season. Miller was a quarterback at the UAB from 2011-12.
This story will be updated with the latest on off-field coaches’ movements.

Tim Watts: "There's nothing to indicate Lake at this stage is a realistic option. Saban did reach out. He reached out to a lot of people. He also reached out to him last year. Spoke to a couple of West Coast sources who said he is happy out there. Didn't see him leaving. Scott is expected to stay. Was with coach yesterday in Birmingham. For the record I never rule out anything. Its coaching. But my sources indicate Lake is happy out West for now. Still a lot tbd imo. Not to be vague but Saban is still pressing a lot of buttons to see what he can put together."

Lake was retweeting UW recruiting stuff just yesterday. Wouldn't say Lake to Bama is looking likely.

Technically, he was tweeting up until the reports surfaced that he was made an offer. He hasn’t tweeted anything since around noon yesterday. Not that I stalked him or anything.
Not to mention Watts wasn’t pushing the Lake narrative. It was Hank that seems to have that information.

Yeah Hank was the one who said Lake was an option from my understanding. Tim has sources, but them disagreeing on the viability of Lake isn't crazy.

It's possible that Tim, or Lake himself, may be downplaying what the chances really are for Bama to get Lake. Also, Tim's sources may not know the true status. Saban and Lake could be the only ones who really know. Heck, Saban found out Enos was gone when he no-showed for a staff meeting. And just about everyone thought Gattis was going to Maryland until it came out that he was hired by Michigan.

Reliable insider: Lance Taylor interviewed with Saban & Enos, was offered last week, and then re-interviewed with Sark Tuesday. "Should hear something soon."

Don’t want Lance back, and he would give some serious concerns about the direction. Only because of what happened when he was here and how he left. If we get any Lance it should be Lance Taylor.

Ok. Taylor is a better fit and a NFL resume.
