Disagree. It appears that Saban wanted Sal last year, but he had just been hired at Florida. Go figure, sounds like the exact opposite of Gattis. So, we hired Kool. Now, we can bring in Sal to coach DL and let Kool move on somewhere else.

I am interested in the Lake saga. Did he interview? Is he out recruiting? Did we make an offer? Did UW make a better offer? Wish I could see the future. And she definitely needs to eat some crow.

We should be able to crush that... but Pruitt only made 1.3M for us so I have to imagine we wouldn't offer more than the 1.7M

Tosh was making $1.1M as a 1st time DC. It's also questionable whether that reporter has accurate information, since she claims Lake didn't even interview.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — New Alabama offensive coordinator Mike Locksley will make $1.2 million annually and defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi is set to earn $1.1 million.

Former defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt had a three-year, $4.2 ($1.3/yr) million deal before leaving to become Tennessee's head coach...

Or maybe Kuligowski stays. And Sunseri coaches his natural OLB spot. Golding at ILBs. Scott may move on it Lake comes in and becomes DC and DBs.

I think Kul is gone gone and honestly I much prefer Sal at DL after seeing how much he improved that UF DL.

Potential 2019 Staff

OC/QB - Steve Sarkisian
RB - Joe Pannunzio or Butch Jones (1 off-field)
WR - Lance Taylor
TE/ST - Jeff Banks
OL - Kyle Flood

DC/CB - Jimmy Lake *
Safeties - Karl Scott
CoDC/ILB - Golding
OLB - Sal Sunseri or Freddie Roach
DL - Sal Sunseri, Todd Bates or Bo Davis

* If Lake isn't hired, Charles Kelly (UT DB Coach, former FSU DC after Pruitt) might be a name to watch, as a position coach (Golding DC).

Sunseri and Flood have East recruiting ties, including PA, NJ, WV, DMV, Carolinas.

Bogle's recruiters: Sunseri at UF, Kelly at UT.

But he did not go to Tuscaloosa to interview for the Alabama job.

I wonder if the reporter knows that an interview can take place anywhere.

Not impressed with bringing Sal back

Why? Sal was solid in his previous stint at Bama.

I would have preferred some younger blood. Sal is a good coach and recruiter, but I feel like there were better options on the board. As I said, I think he is an upgrade from Kool.

Freddie is in his 30’s.

ETA: when this all started Sal was not one of the coaches that was suggested.
