Actually Watts said it was up in the air what Sal would coach but most likely would be either OLB or DL.

Said the same thing in another thread. Let Lake run the show for a year or two and then let Golding take over.

Not impressed with bringing Sal back and bringing Flood in, but I give Saban the benefit. Maybe, they can turn it around.

As long as he doesn't talk to any faculty we should be fine.

His DL work was really impressive last year, would actually be happy with that hire.

Flood and Sunseri have East Coast recruiting ties, including PA, NJ, WV, DMV and Carolinas.

If it weren't for the constant staff force outs, I'd almost say Saban likes playing offense with a handicap.

Does that mean we can go after Pickens and get him qualified now?

CNS: "Sal, I want you to come back. What's it going to take?"

Sal: "Hire Vinnie as a GA to get him in the college coaching pipeline."

"Breaking news...."

LINK ]BREAKING: Saban set to hire defensive coach (BamaOnLine)

Sal Sunseri, "We comin'!"
quote:

Alabama is expected to hire Florida defensive line coach Sal Sunseri back to its staff, BamaOnLine has learned. While it's not clear what role he will serve, Sunseri has experience coaching linebackers and special teams along with the defensive line throughout his lengthy career.

This will not be Sunseri's first stint working with Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa. He was the linebackers coach, as well as holding the title of assistant head coach, at Alabama from 2009-11. The 35-year coaching veteran was Alabama’s outside linebackers coach and won two national championships (2009, 2011) during his three-year span with the Crimson Tide...

Does Lake coming on board lead to Scott leaving?

According to this article, Lake was offered between $1.4-$1.7 to stay at UW. LINK

How do you think our offer compares?

Edit: I sure hope she eats crow - LINK

We should be able to crush that... but Pruitt only made 1.3M for us so I have to imagine we wouldn't offer more than the 1.7M

Probably Pruitt's 1.3M.
Also just saying her first report is false because Lake was in tuscaloosa and did interview... so she may have info but he and UW are clearly not on the same page about his plans so far.

LINK ]Former Power 5 head coach set to join Tide staff (BamaOnLine)

quote:

Kyle Flood, previously of the Atlanta Falcons and Rutgers, has agreed to join the coaching staff at the University of Alabama, BamaOnLine.com has learned.

Multiple sources told BOL that Flood, who will celebrate his 48th birthday on Sunday, is expected to take over position duties from Brent Key, who recently joined the staff at his alma mater, Georgia Tech.

Flood spent the last two seasons with the Falcons, where he worked with Steve Sarkisian, who is expected to oversee the UA offense moving forward. Flood served as assistant offensive line coach for the club in 2017 before taking on the role of senior assistant in 2018.

Prior to his time in Atlanta, Flood served as both head coach (2012-2015) and as an assistant (2005-2011) at Rutgers. In 2012, he guided the Scarlet Knights to their first-ever Big East championship, picking up league coach of the year honors in the process.

His tenure at Rutgers ended with Flood receiving a one-year show cause after the NCAA determined there was a "lack of oversight" on Flood's behalf. The show cause expired in September of last year.

Before making his way to New Jersey, Floyd worked as assistant head coach and offensive line coach at the University of Delaware, where he was a part of the Blue Hens' FCS national championship team in 2003. He was also the offensive line coach at Hofstra University from 1997-01.

Stay tuned to BamaOnLine.com for more on this developing story.
