We have flexibility. Can have him split DB's and safeties with Scott if we want Scott to stay or move Scott along and have Lake take over the DB's. This is the dumbest reason not to hire someone when we have so much flexibility in how we allocate staff spots available to us. We have an extra spot if Sark is the Qb coach this year.

There has to be a couple of people hired to create username after username on The Rant just for the hits and Bama is the target. Those posters can't be that stupid day after day after day.

Can They?

Another thing I like about Lake is that California is supposedly loaded in 2020 and Sa'vell Smalls is familiar with Lake.

Potential 2019 Staff

OC/QB - Sarkisian

TE/ST - Banks
OL - Silverstein, Bostad, Mogridge or Flood

DC/CB - Lake
Safeties - Scott
CoDC/ILB - Golding
OLB - Roach or Sunseri

Note: OL may be Flood. Bates and Roach were roommates, but DL or OLB may be Sunseri. Sal and Flood have Eastern recruiting ties, including PA, NJ, WV, DMV and Carolinas.

This would be an incredible staff and put a lot of anxiety to bed.

Am I wrong that is seems as if Saban is pushing Kool out the door as well? I thought Kool was a DL guru.

LINK ]Terps' Ace Recruiter Officially Moving On
(247-InsideMDsports | Dec 27)
quote:

Maryland assistant coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim will become the new defensive coordinator at UMass, sources confirmed to IMS...

Abdul-Rahim, the Terps’ cornerbacks coach last year, will work under former Maryland offensive coordinator Walt Bell at his new stop. An ace recruiter of the Washington area, there was speculation that Abdul-Rahim could end up at a rival FBS program, so this is essentially a best-case scenario for Maryland...

There was speculation that Abdul-Rahim could end up at Alabama -- where he began his collegiate coaching career -- or perhaps a Big Ten rival like Penn State. However, at UMass -- which began transitioning to the FBS in 2011 -- he won’t be a threat to the Terps on the recruiting trail...

I suspect we keep Kul if there is less staff turnover, but because we are basically hitting reset now, he wants to get in a better recruiter at the spot to make up for losing Tosh.

I sense that Kugliowski might be too laid back for Saban's expectations, especially in recruiting. I read that he has interviewed for the HC job at Northern Illinois.

He is a better recruiter than Dunbar, but that isn't saying much. Have to imagine we want a better recruiter in there.

I thought this was a Stoutland like deal where he would coach up the players. I just didn’t see the impact I expected from Kool.

I saw one of his guys go from little-used (albeit productive) to an Outland Trophy. Buggs also had a pretty big year.

He was a good coach, some players really grew with him. We don't have to trash the entire staff just because they are moving on or things didn't work out.

Golding did a poor job with the ILB's, doesn't mean he can't be a good DC or get better at coaching Linebackers. The overreactiveness of this board is truly special.

Q was great. The rest blah. Davis was played better last year.
