I know we didn’t do ourselves any favors that inning, but the third base umpire can go straight to Hell.

Rung Holcombe up on a borderline check swing.

Did not ring OM player up on obvious swing. Should have been two outs and no runs. Next pitch was an RBI single. Who knows what would have happened this inning if that call was made correctly.

At least we didn’t get swept to start conference play. That’s about all we could hope for this series.

If not for the bad call on the check swing the base hit that started the big inning wouldn't have happened.

Exactly. Not saying we would have shut them out that inning but they would have likely scored less than SEVEN.

That’s a call where Brad needs to come off the bench and discuss.

Our SEC schedule with current D1 Baseball Top 25 rankings

@ #18 Ole Miss (lost 2-1)
vs #11 Arkansas
@ #14 Florida
vs South Carolina
@ #2 Mississippi St
vs #8 Vanderbilt
vs #10 LSU
@ #12 Auburn
vs #13 Texas A&M
@ #5 Georgia

- 27 of our 30 conference games are against Top 18 teams
- 24 of our 30 conference game are against Top 15 teams
- 12 of our 30 conference games are against Top 10 teams
- 9 of our 30 conference games are against Top 8 teams
- the 3 games that are against an unranked team are against a team that literally just dropped out of the rankings
- 12 of 12 road games against Top 18 teams

Honestly, I'd like to see some research on this, because I'd guess this could possibly be the hardest conference schedule in college baseball history.

Maine came all the way from there, midweek, for one game, just to get their brains bashed in? They couldn't find someone in Vermont or New Hampshire to do it for them?

my guess is they did not come all this way for one game. They are probably doing a southern tour as it is probably too cold up there to play outdoors and I doubt many colleges in the N.E play indoors. They will do a southern tour during their spring break.

They are actually concluding a long road trip tonight in Troy before heading back up North. They actually began their trip on Feb 15th at FSU.

Yea I'd be curious to see an article on how they do their travel. I have to assume they are just gone for a month, but how does that work with school? I also assume they probably get their opponents to let them practice during the weeks they are there? It has to be damned expensive.

My guess would be FSU was a down and back trip on a plane and then they roadtripped via bus from Maryland through Troy. Or maybe they flew to FSU, flew to Maryland, rented a bus and drove through and then are flying back from Tallahassee or Atlanta.

Feb 15-17 : @ Florida State (4)
Feb 22-24 : @ Maryland (3)
Mar 2-3 : @ Liberty (3)
Mar 8-10 : @ Mississippi St (3)
Mar 15-17 : @ Samford (3)
Mar 19 : @ Alabama (1)
Mar 20 : @ Troy (1)

A lot of the programs in that part of the country do this for the first month of the season. It’s got to be crazy expensive and difficult with school, like you said.

Yea, but a lot of them are Midwestern schools that drive down for a stretch or they fly to Florida for a tournament and games.

When I was in DIII we used to play almost all Ohio/Indiana/Illinois schools the first month of the season. They'd come down on their spring breaks and just drive around. We did the same thing, just up the Carolinas/Virginia.

But Maine is so damn far away, even compared to the MAC type schools that do it. The University of Maine is 4 hours north of Boston. It's 2 hours north of Portland, Maine. It's so far away. I'm just curious how they do it - especially with FSU first then Maryland and down. Logistically it seems like FSU had to be a one off and then the driving trip started at Maryland.
