I don't mind keeping Dunbar around.

Pannunzio is the one I think needs to step down. Rumor is he is having both knees replaced and he hasn't exactly lit the world on fire recruiting wise. We need an ace down in Florida that isn't nearing retirement age.

It wasn’t about keeping Dunbar he was looking hard at the NFL again.

I know.

I'm just saying I'm not disappointed that he's staying. I'm glad actually. We have a lot of young dudes on the defensive line and his coaching is second to none. It'll be good for them to learn from him.

He's an elite DL Coach, but all people care about is if he can recruit.

There are dozens of guys in the NFL that will speak openly about how Dunbar made them better.

That’s the dynamic Daboll hated about college. Recruiting.

With the recruiting talent we've added so far we can afford to have one or two guys who aren't that great at it.

Four or five and it becomes an issue.

Burns has slowed down recruiting wise, but his coaching is so good we can overlook it.

Same thing with Dunbar.

Key is serviceable.

Pannunzio is the concern.

It's the fire you play with hiring former NFL coaches.

If it's line play, I 100% prefer better coaches than recruiters there. Didn't complain when Pendry was OL Coach, didn't complain when Stout was OL Coach.

Got soft as the years passed under Cristobal, he was just so dynamic As a recruiter you couldn't turn him down...

I'm ok with Freeze as an analyst. Someone said that analysts can help players during the offseason while coaches can not.

That's solid.

I said it. It's true. I seent it. And yes, it's yuge. Freezus and Weinke can supervise voluntary offseason 7 on 7 passing & coverage drills.

ETA: Oh crap! I was wr-wr-wr-wr-wrong.
I should not have taken someone word for it.

NCAA Rules:

Coaching Activities

11.7.1.1.1 Countable Coach.
An athletics department staff member must count against coaching limits as soon as the individual participates (in any manner) in the coaching of the intercollegiate team in practice, games or organized activities directly related to that sport, including any organized staff activity directly related to the sport.

11.7.1.1.1.1 Non coaching Activities.
Institutional staff members involved in non coaching activities (e.g., administrative assistants, academic counselors) do not count in the institution's coaching limitations, provided such individuals are not identified as coaches, do not engage in any on- or off-field coaching activities (e.g., attending meetings involving coaching activities, analyzing videotape or film involving the institution's or an opponent's team), and are not involved in any off-campus recruitment of prospective student-athletes or scouting of opponents. A noncoaching staff member with sport-specific responsibilities may not participate with or observe student-athletes in the staff member's sport who are engaged in non organized voluntary athletically related activities (e.g., pick-up games). (Adopted: 1/16/93; Revised: 1/10/95, 12/13/05, 4/27/06 effective 8/1/06)

11.7.2.1.1 Weight or Strength Coach.
A weight (strength and conditioning) coach may conduct flexibility, warm-up and physical conditioning activities prior to any game and prior to or during any practice or other organized activities without being included in the limitations on number of coaches.

He's been at Alabama long enough to get state retirement so it makes sense.

So heard Dunbar wants to stay, Tosh is DC with Gold Co, freeze is an analyst can’t have him on the field due to blow back.

All good news, imo.

Will Tosh switch to coaching ILBs and then Golding OLBs?

If Dunbar stays for at least another year then it makes bringing Bo back eventually an even easier transition.

But Saban is pretty involved with the defense (evidently the offense too), so I suppose he'll stay close or monitor the defensive calls.

It'll be an end of an era when he does. I wouldn't trade him for anyone, CFB or NFL.

What am I missing with Weinke? I don't understand why people have been wanting him more involved. I wanted him around for his IMG connections, but I'm hesitant on any actual coaching talent.

I can only assume it has to do with Florida recruiting connections.
