This is one instance where I hope Lock is just smart enough not to screw it up next year and after a successful season, he’s offered a bigger job elsewhere.

where freeze comes in is unclear.

I'd put some money (not a ton) on it being on-field, likely QB coach. That said, it wouldn't shock me if it was OA. Either way, looks highly likely to be on staff in 2018.

Also, listen to Outkick the Coverage from 1/3/18. He talks to Freeze specifically about being able to recruit and the conversations that parents will have with him. Freeze has a perfect answer already rehearsed, I mean, in mind.

Meh. Not a very exciting hire, and it does nothing for continuity purposes. He will either suck and frick up our offense or do well and take a HC job in a couple of years.

I'm so underwhelmed about Locksley as OC.

I'm trying. I trust Saban. Isn't he more of an option read guy? That doesn't fit Tuas strengths..

He's led conferences in rushing when his talent was tilted that way, and he's had a 3,000 yard passer when the talent leaned that way.

Locks knows this is his absolute best shot and he's seen the talent in t-town for years. he won't screw this up.

(and the players past and present seem to be universally behind it, and I'm sure there is value in that)

And the players were behind and pushing for Mike Dubose to become head coach too.

I'll just wait and see how he does. Not thrilled.

LSU's players really wanted Yaw Yaw as well. Internal promotions are good for them because they aren't at risk of losing their place on the depth chart.

I don't understand what all the bitching about. The offense not going to change much no matter who the OC is.

I'm not entirely sure about that. He was a complete and utter failure as a HC. I'm not sure he'll get another shot that quickly.

I'm not excited either but I'll wait and see.

This. I swear we have some of the most spoiled fans some times.

It’s like y’all forget Saban won a NC with a Doug Nussmeir as his OC.

Tua so good he don’t need no stinkin’ QB coach.

And that season was probably the best and most efficient offense Saban has had at Alabama. It featured a QB who passed for almost 3,000 yards while throwing 30 touchdowns to just three interceptions; two 1,000-yard backs, both of whom averaged over six yards per carry; as well as one 1,000-yard receiver.

I'm not worried about the offense under Locksley. I'm sure we will be fine.

Our offense looked the most dynamic under Kiffin and it wasn't even close. He utilized our playmakers perfectly. He knew Jalen couldn't pass down field so he gave him quick pitch jet sweeps to get our speed to the perimeter. A good OC can make all the difference. He calls plays to his teams strengths.

But our offense in 2012 with Nussmeier was more efficient. No one is arguing the fact that Kiffin's offenses were more explosive.

I think we all agree that it's hard to mess up that much talent, and Saban always has his hand on the offense, but give me a Kiffin over Nuss/Mac anyday.

Jim McElwain-coached offenses won us two national championships. Kiffin's offenses only won us one. They weren't as pretty to look at but they got the job done. I personally miss the physicality of those earlier offenses.

The game has evolved. The HUNH puts so much pressure on you. IMO it's nearly impossible to win with that style of offense in today's game. You have to be able to score. We wouldn't have beaten Clemson if it weren't for our quick strike ability.

I'm not a huge fan of purposely handicapping ourselves.

Trust in Saban and all, but this is underwhelming to know nothing fan over here.
