Does Coach Sal deserve big props for motivating Ben and toughening up?

There are variations to this rule but, generally in football a player will get this one chance to make an impact. I think Ben might have realized it’s time to do that. If football finally clicked with his physical attributes he could be one of the bigger surprises we’ve had.

Ben Davis has always been a very good athlete who was reportedly soft. That doesn't equate to rock bottom.

He was at the back of the line going through drills last year even when we had like 5 healthy linebackers on the entire roster, so I'd definitely say there was no where to go but up for him. But your shtick is to disagree with everyone and try to turn every thread you participate in into an argument, so carry on.

Honestly, there's no blueprint for how to do college. Some kids are mature and develop/play immediately. Some kids get lost in college life or some pussy, and/or struggle with the transition. I can definitely tell you this: the transition from Gordo to Tuscaloosa is stark. And I'm sure his father's shadow looms large. Maybe old Ben just had some growing up to do. Whatever it is, I'm happy for him if the light has come on.

I simply disagreed with a small aspect of your post. Anything above that was invented by you. Any issues you have with me from another thread were brought here by you. Mild disagreement is a part if this board and a part of any discussion.

Also, I read "rock bottom" as much worse than bottom of the depth chart. Davis always had the physical tools and was never in the doghouse, and I think that alone doesn't equate to "rock bottom".

But you took my observation as a strong personal indictment on you,and it obviously wasn't. Please try to leave arguments in other threads just there - in those other threads. Take care.

Me too.

He has all the talent in the world. I hope it translates to success on the field this Fall.

Yep, sometimes it takes a while for those that never had to work hard to be on top to figure out that it takes a lot of effort in several aspects to really excel.

I hope the light has come on and is burning bright for Ben and that he seizes his opportunity.
