Patch.com does the best job of covering it. By far

That patch.com reporter also live tweets from the trial. Been following him for a while.

His biggest revelation was saying that Michael Davis “was worried about the Jeep” after the verbal spat on The Strip and that he wanted to go looking for it.

I loathe this Davis guy. He and the boyfriend are the thugs here

True, but I'm interested in his side of the story. His testimony will be eye opening. I wouldn't be shocked if every threatening thing the gangbanger boyfriend pinned on Davis was actually done by the boyfriend. No other witness comes close to cooperating the boyfriend's story.

If the boyfriend was the state's "star witness," I don't see how they're going to prove Davis was the aggressor. None of the videos that have been released publicly appear to indicate this, and if there were any then it seems likely the prosecution would have shown them yesterday.

I don't see what they get Miles for at all. Certainly not murder.

He approached the jeep with a loaded firearm. Davis is about that life and he dragged Miles down with him

The Jeep pulled up like they were going to shoot somebody, and the boyfriend is clearly lying about it. I do not expect someone to just be passive in that situation. I would have probably tried to get away, but the reality is the Jeep parked near their cars. There was no actual "escape" option without passing by the Jeep.

They also probably didn't even know about the stolen red vehicle and the guy ready to pull a shotgun. The boyfriend CLEARLY coordinated with some people he knew to attack these guys. I don't think it will be difficult for the defense to plant that seed at all.

Both sides left to fetch a firearm.

I think you’re right that they might get off simply because boyfriend seems to have an entire scheme after the initial confrontation (or at least that’s how it probably seemed to Miles and co.) But it still speaks to a larger issue of young men under the assumption that everyone else is armed and are willing to die before being soft. Serve as a member of a grand jury for a day. It’s like 20% of the reason young men get shot

Opening statements followed a break for lunch, with Assistant District Attorney Cristen Mejia speaking to the jury for the prosecution and calling the fatal shooting a "cold and calculated ambush."

They have a first year DA trying a capital case... yeah they don't feel too strongly about this one.

Maybe...but only one side actually followed the other into an alley when he could have simply continued driving home to Birmingham. To me, it seems like Miles' and Davis' instincts were correct and that they needed to protect themselves.

Yep.

Miles had a right to a firearm for his protection. Miller had no right to say, “nah, I’m not bringing you your lawfully owned firearm when you think you are being threatened,” although I don’t think Miller was aware of the situation when he was going to get Miles, and I am not sure that he even knew the gun was in his car. Regardless, Joe Scarborough will go to hell if he doesn’t repent of impugning Miller’s reputation with his little, “Miller delivered the weapon” schtick.

He testified that he was aware Miles was distressed about something, but no one has implied he knew he had a gun in his car.

They showed his dash cam video in court today, and it included audio from inside the car, so apparently he never said anything that would lead anyone to believe he was trying to assist in a violent altercation.

Hell, it wasn’t his weapon. The most reasonable legal thing for him to do is give it back to the owner and out of his possession

I wouldn't want someone else's unsecured firearm in my vehicle. What's he going to do? Take the gun to the cops?
