Ystar and Prevatt probably could do a better breakdown than this guy, but this is interesting for the off-season It's from the Aday game

Thanks for the link and shoutout, but honestly I can't break down Oline in any more detail, as I haven't played Oline since PeeWee when I had a stripe and couldn't handle the football.

The guy in the link simply explains what happens in each rep regarding success or failure inside the framework of a basic knowledge of leverage. But to really break this down, we'd need to know what he (the player) is being taught regarding things like hand placement, order of striking hands, first step placement, footwork (particularly when moving backwards), and so on. An analyst like Cole Cubelic will do great job of breaking Oline down because he played the position at the highest level, but even he will be a tad limited in his analysis as he can only base it on "universal" technique, rather than knowing whether he's executing the technique being taught by his position coach.

And to really deep dive, we'd basically need to be in the film room with the Oline group/coach and see the coach's critique. Why? Many knowledgeable fans can spot why a successful rep succeeded and why a bad rep failed, but that's half of it. A true critique/analysis is going to point out what was done incorrectly during a successful rep as well as what was done right in a failed rep. Understanding these things over time would allow a fan to not only know where a player is in his development, but where he's going as well as his ceiling.

For fans like us, we simply have to base our analysis on the long term view of percentage of successful reps. I bet Gary Patterson can tell you exactly how good a lineman is as well as his ceiling in 3 reps against fair competition. I bet I'd need 50 reps to know how good he is and a crazy number of reps to determine his ceiling, if I could at all.

But don't worry. One of Duke's most experienced and deep positions is Dline (along with secondary), and Will Muschamp was quoted recently saying he believed his Dline could be one of the if not the best DLine in all of CFB. Whether it's literally true is irrelevant - they'll be a good test. And so we should find out how good our Oline is pretty quickly in the 2019 season.

We need better camera angles too. Ystar played Dline, I believe, so I figured he could do a good job too.

If Duke is that good on the Dline, then it'll be a great way to find out what we have.

Once a decade line. But they had their struggles at times. People wanted fluker replaced after the WKU game.

Nah not DL.

As far as the breakdown, if you really wanted me to I could give my own detailed breakdown.

For one on that first play (2nd & 6) Ekiyor loses the LB not because he tripped, it's because he turned his shoulders when helping the center before going to the second level.

Using the correct technique he would keep his shoulders and body parallel and always faced forward, never turn. His first step (right foot) should go inside, then punch or jab forearm to slow down DT. Then step left foot outward keeping shoulders parallel and keeping balance.

Had he done this from the snap, his shoulders would have never turned and the LB wouldn't have had the opening to beat him so easily.

Succinct and to the point. Thank you. Packed with solid information, yet displaying the typical economy of words. Bravo.
