I thought that was because Saban strongly disagreed with his decision? Or maybe that's just my memory putting a spin on what happened.

Sounds like no decision yet for Alabama's other juniors on the draft (Allen and Howard). They have until Monday.

That's my point on speculation about a couple of juniors not appearing on stage.

I can see Saban disagreeing with maybe Howard deciding to turn pro, but Allen?

According the NFL.com, it is, and they get 72 hours (i.e. until the Monday you're talking about) to change their mind.

Edit: looked more carefully. They have to receive the paperwork by Monday, so I guess that's the actual deadline.

Both OJ and Allen got a 2nd Rd grade. CNS suggestion is if you don't have a 1st rd grade you need to stay.

Personally I think coach needs to change that and say the 1st 2 rnds.

If they stay I will be happy, if they go, I will be happy as well.

Actually, that's not quite accurate. After the championship game, he broke down his thought process on it. Essentially, if he feels that you can't improve your draft grade by coming back, then what would be the point in coming back? Like Henry. He received second round grades, but would probably not improve on that by coming back. It's all about making the smart business decision. Coming back to school for Henry's senior year won't increase his value to an NFL team. In fact, the extra wear and tear and risk of injury may actually lower his value. So he's making the correct decision in leaving, even if he only has a second round grade.

Someone on BOL claiming Foster's uncle said Foster is returning, and then said this is an indication of that:

So there's that.

Imagine if our front 7 returned Allen, Williams, Anderson, Reuben, Evans, Hand, Tomlinson, and Payne.

We'd miss Robinson/Reed/Ragland, don't get me wrong, Pettway too, but returning all of that plus what we return in the secondary? That just isn't fair for other teams, we could maybe lose a little bit of rush D but barring slumps we'd improve our pass D.

With Howard it's all about the combine. If he has crazy numbers he could end up like Vernon Davis, but if he has just "normal" good numbers I doubt he'll go in the first round.

No doubt in my mind that Allen is early 2nd at worst this year, and probably mid to late 1st

He has the potential to be a top 5 pick though.
