If you cut that down to teams that have been in the Top 15 in all those categories?

- 11 teams from 2002-2020 (2 since 2012)
- All 11 were #1 or #2 seeds
- 10 of 11 went to at least the Sweet 16
- 8 of 11 went to at least the Elite 8
- 5 of 11 went to the Final 4
- 2 of 11 won the national title

In conclusion, savor what we are watching. We currently have a team playing at a, quite literal, all time elite pace.

Is it sustainable? Who knows. But right now, they are playing at a level that only truly GREAT teams have played at over the last 20 seasons. Not great Alabama teams, truly great NCAA basketball teams. At least enjoy this before the inevitable collapse or whatever.

Listen here fellas, I've been waiting to watch a basketball team this good and this in sync for 25 years. I'm not gonna spend the next month acting as if they are shitty because past shitty coaches fricked seasons up and had no depth.

They're really good and I'm gonna talk about how they are very good.

ETA: I am 100% with you btw. Time to enjoy the fruits of our labor. And by labor I mean being miserable as hell about the basketball program for the last forever and a day.

Fwiw, I usually dont brag or gloat alot on the football team until the season is over.

Last time I did kick six happened and the ban bet I started ended with several of us wearing mickey mouse clocks with one second on them as avi's.

I don't trash talk or troll on the rant. Hell, I barely even post over there anymore.

But the basketball threads on the Alabama board is where I intend to enjoy being an elite basketball fan of an elite basketball team.

What's been the most impressive feat of this team outside of the emergence of the defense are the guys finally making their layups. This team had to have set a record for the number of missed buckets around the rim before WKU. Credit to Oats and the staff for developing this squad.

If I were a guard, I'd definitely want to play for him. Herb's offensive game is night and day compared to what it was under Avery.

Herb just needed a realignment of his fingers to straighten his aim up. He hasn’t missed a layup since

Does that mean you’re watching the State game from the top Saturday?

Bama basketball fans haven’t had much safe space for the last two decades. It was like Whack-A-Mole... as soon as we popped up, someone would beat us in the head with a hammer. I’ve been enjoying the win streak with guarded optimism, but it’s fading a little with each game. They’re playing confidently, like they know what you do and how to do it. Barring some crazy injuries, I think this is a really good team that could win the conference and a few tournament games.

In regards to the metrics, they’re only relative to other teams playing that season, right? It would be interesting to see what the raw tempo and efficiency numbers look like compared to some of the other teams on your list. For instance, has tempo increased overall since 2002? Or which team does Alabama most closely resemble in the time frame? 2012 NC seems like a decent match, but it’s hard to tell based solely on the rankings from two different seasons.

I know that’s not what you were going for and it was good info Just my rambling thoughts as I was looking over the other teams.

Hell no - I'm happy not stupid

Also I agree about being curious about tempo adjustment, though the lack of teams in the last 3-4 teams leads me to believe that there isn't that much of a shift. It doesn't seem to be like football where offensive numbers in general have exploded. The elite efficiency + tempo seems to still be a very rare thing even in the last 4-5 years, almost even more rare.
