He was a little boy. We live in Louisiana about 25 minutes from LsU campus. My son was senior this year in high school playing football. They lost in the second round of playoffs and he was pretty devastated his time playing football was done. He’s always loved the game and wants to coach. After consoling him at midfield I decided to take him to see what turned out to be Nick Sabans last game at Bryant Denny stadium just to make him feel better. In light of todays news I am even happier we decided to go to that game.

He’ll be telling this story from his perspective for the rest of his life about how great that memory was with his dad. That’s awesome

that’ll make the story even better for him when he tells it years from now.

I’ve told him about the old days of college football. Not just the coaches we went through but how not but 25 yrs ago you couldn’t even watch all of the Bama games on TV like you can now. I had to see the ticker across the bottom
Of the screen on ESPN to get updates. Only games I knew for sure I’d see were Tennessee, Auburn and if Bama was having a good year I might catch them and Florida or LSU on TV. We won’t see this kind of success but if the new coach can keep us in the hunt every year that will be a good hire.

That’s awesome. What a great memory. My middle daughter is 28 and lives in California. She’s the main one of my four kids who watched Bama football with me. She’s done it since she was 5-6 years old. A daddy’s girl. She’s been to games as well. I taught her the basics of the game so she’s a young female who actually understands what’s happening in the game. Anyway, she called today almost in tears. “I’m sad. I barely remember the bad years before Saban. I hope we don’t sink down into the depths like that again.” Me too, dear, and I don’t think so.
