Is there a reason we didn't use a jumbo package on the goal line this year? Are none of our big men athletic enough to lead block on the goal line? Just seems like given the problems we experienced throughout the year that it would have been put in at some point.

Used more of a “Stanford package” with additional OTs and TEs.

Yeah, that didn't seem to have the same impact as a 300+/- pounder getting a running start to hit the hole.

At least one time, put three RBs in a full house right behind Tua, run the QB sneak and let those RBs just push him and the pile across the line. I've yet to see teams that do that fail.

I was screaming that at the TV on those short yardage situations.

I think he definitely has issues in short yardage situations. It really is a copout to put Jacobs in the wildcat for short yardage. That's basically a coach going...I don't know what to do, so Jacobs, you find a hole and make a play.

Basically anything would have been better than a shovel pass on the goal line or having your gimpy QB run versus one of the elite RBs.

Part of this falls on the offensive line, too. Given the OL we get, lining up and overpowering people (basically falling forward for two years) should really be a problem. The quality of recruit and the strength program should make this a given. But something is going on with run blocking technique or schemes. I don't know; OL blocking doesn't fall into my realm of knowledge/experience.

How old were you in 2009?

This was no cop out.

So you're saying he just stumbled arse backwards into a 28-0 lead vs. Oklahoma.

Oklahoma's defense was not very good, the more impressive part of the 28-0 start was holding them scoreless that long

Would have loved to see a goal line package with Quinnen, like we did with Cody and Jesse Williams. I know he’s the smallest of those 3 but no one else on the field this year could impose their will on the man in front of them like he could.
