This was the single biggest blow to Bama’s championship chances.

He’s probably the most fatal early departure of the Saban era.

He still had a year of eligibility when he left.

Was a pretty big "wtf" moment when it happened.

I'd say losing Terrell Lewis and Chris Allen before the season and Christian Miller in the Orange Bowl really hurt us this year. If we have a pass rush last night, it takes a lot of pressure off of the secondary.

Really the injuries plus thw whole secondary leaving hurt us. If any of them had stayed we'd have been better.

Yep, I said this in another thread, we did not have a QB on the defense,.no true leader that could get everyone lined up and sniff out the play.

Way to much looking around asking WTF do I do or who do I cover. We lacked a leader and play caller on defense. We need to find an elite, smart safety, like Mink that can run the defense without having to have the coaches tell them everything presnap.

I said on this board earlier that guys like Minkah and Ryan Clark when he was at LSU are rare because those guys picked up on Saban's defense in their first year in the system. That's very rare.

I miss crazy Tony. He might have missed assignments but he missed those assignment at 100 speed and intensity.

While I agree on most of the points there a time in coaching were you simplify the game.
Our decision to not blitz and hit there young Qb early with intent to pay dividends later was an mistake.
If your gonna throw deep on me your Qb will see the results from his back.
You have to put your hands on big wr are your just asking for 50/50 balls on back shoulder throws.
You cant make another player Fitz over night and remember Fitz had trouble in 2016.
But Saban has his way and this was one that needed game time adjustments and more use of his time outs.
This defense had the harder route as for plays played against OU and injuries.
It's ok to give up a big play in blitzing with bump and run. As long as the qb gets touched.
Also we did not use people like 89, 9 in situational downs to make up for no miller or 24.

I kept saying we needed to blitz. We're already getting beat on passes what's it gonna hurt to send 6?

I agree. Having a Shaun dion would have been huge too, he was so solid and he allowed Mack to focus on attacking and not making calls. Minkah of course was missed but I think Xavier Mckinney played really well compared to rest of our secondary. The biggest to me was Trevon Diggs, his height and athleticism combined would have made things way tougher on Ross.
