Without knowing exactly what happened, it's hard to know how to feel about this situation. Either Marlon acted like a douche, or the driver acted like a douche. We'll probably never know.
I do agree that felony robbery over a 15 dollar charger is ludicrous.

And either way, a Felony Robbery charge would still be preposterous.

WTF! Idk who's worse, the shitstain uber driver or the Barney Fife syndrome police.
I don’t know that this is on the PD. The incident happened on 1/13. That offficer wrote it up as misdemeanor harassment and did not make an arrest - which seems appropriate based on the situation as described.
Now, today, two weeks later the charge has been upgraded to a felony and he was arrested. Who secured the felony warrant? DA, magistrate, or PD? That is the one who is overreacting. The officer that caught the call seems to have handled it just fine.

What do you have against the sheriff?
He didn’t make the arrest. His deputies didn’t respond to the initial incident. Other than the fact that he runs the county jail - which is his job - I have seen nothing that suggests he is involved at all.
The PD MAY not even be culpable. If they are not the ones that worked to get the charge upgraded, then all they did was execute a warrant that had already been issued - which again is their job.
See my earlier post. In order to properly direct your anger, you need to find out who turned what a UAPD officer thought was misdemeanor harassment on 1/13 into felony theft on 1/22.

I am bitching in general not only about Tuscaloosa PD and this chicken shite charge against Marlon but the culture of law enforcement in Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County and West Alabama: That includes the Sheriff and West Alabama Narcotic Force.
The Sweet T case makes me sick and I despise the West Alabama Narcs who go after students and crow about it like they just took down the Sinaloa Cartel and then use those busts to perpetuate more federal grants to perpetuate more arrests.

Seems like Marlon was a drunk arse based on the report. Still doesn't deserve felony charges over it though

Marlon's lawyer explains what happened. VIDEO is in linked article... LINK

Marlon Humphrey’s attorney calls arrest “a misunderstanding”
An attorney representing Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey in a felony robbery case says the charges stemmed from a misunderstanding over a phone charger.
Humphrey, 21, turned himself in to police Thursday morning, nearly two weeks after the incident on the University of Alabama campus with an Uber driver.
The Uber driver told police Humphrey borrowed his $15 Android charger and refused to return it, saying the former Alabama player elbowed him an “balled up his fist and acted like he wanted to fight.”
Paul Patterson, one of the Tuscaloosa attorneys representing Humphrey, called it a misunderstanding and an “innocent mistake.”
“Marlon needed an iPhone cord, and he thought he had one with him,” Patterson said. “He reached down and accidentally picked up the Android phone of the Uber driver. As he stepped out of the vehicle, the Uber driver confronted him about stealing a cord, and at this point, Marlon still thought it was his Apple cord. It escalated from this small event to a warrant being issued for Marlon’s arrested. Now he’s having to face all the scrutiny of his reputation and all of the headlines just based on misidentifying a car phone charger.”
The driver, 30, had picked Humphrey and three women up from the Strip. He had dropped two of the women off at another location and was taking Humphrey and a woman to Hotel Capstone around 2 a.m.
Humphrey, the son of former Alabama player and NFL running back Bobby Humphrey, signed a four-year contract worth $11,847,480 with the Ravens on May 4, 2017 that included a $6,756,348 signing bonus.
“He’s got 11 million reasons, and I think everyone would agree, not to steal a $3 cord, because he didn’t,” Patterson said.
Patterson, who represented heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder when he was charged with marijuana possession, is representing Humphrey alongside attorneys Chuck Malone and Jessica Schaub of Malone & Nelson LLC. He said the attorneys will prepare for trial and ask the Tuscaloosa County District Attorneys Office to dismiss the charge.
“We look forward to clearing his name, to clearing this up,” he said.
Humphrey turned himself in to police Thursday. He was released around 10:30 a.m. after posting 10 percent of a $2,500 bond for the felony charge.
The Ravens issued a statement Thursday:
“Marlon told us that it was a misunderstanding regarding a $15 telephone charger, which he thought was his. Our understanding is that he has been interviewed by University of Alabama Police and is cooperating. We are monitoring the situation.”
UA issued a statement Thursday afternoon.
“Because the incident occurred on campus, UAPD responded and documented the incident,” said Monica Watts, associate vice president for communications. “In a situation like this, however, it is up to the alleged victim to decide whether to pursue a warrant for arrest and, ultimately, up to the magistrate to decide whether a warrant should be issued and for what charge.”

The truths usually somewhere in the middle.
But realistically, with the delay and what appear to be trumped up charges, this Uber driver is looking for a pay day

The guy who made the report, Officer Moye, is a good dude. I don't think he would have fricked up the report. He probably got it right with one charge of harassment and one of TOP4th, just as charges.
Roberry third would mean that he used physical force with the intent to deprive another of his property. But, there has to be intent.
Pre trial diversion coming up for Marlon. frick that Uber driver.

What comes next for Marlon Humphrey as new details emerge in robbery case | al.com
quote:
The case of a mistaken phone charger resulted in a felony charge for former Alabama football star Marlon Humphrey.
The Baltimore Ravens' cornerback was shocked Thursday morning to learn there was a warrant for his arrest stemming from a Jan. 13 incident on the Alabama campus. Charged with third-degree robbery, Humphrey spent a few hours in Tuscaloosa County Jail after turning himself into police. He was released on $2,500 bond.
What happens from here?
Humphrey's attorney, Paul Patterson, said they hope the district attorney will drop the charges after reviewing the case. If that is denied, it will go to a grand jury to decide if the case continues on to trial.
"The criminal setting is never a quick process," Patterson told AL.com, "but hopefully there will be a dismissal sooner than later."
If it goes to the grand jury, it could be a three-to-six-month process. Patterson was not aware of an initial court date in the matter.
Patterson said they have witnesses that back up Humphrey's side of the story.
It all started with a 2 a.m. Uber ride on Jan. 13 from the Strip near campus to the Hotel Capstone. Humphrey asked to borrow a phone charger for his iPhone. The driver handed him one, which turned out to be for an Android phone. It was valued at $15, according to the incident report.
Patterson said Humphrey exited the car with the charger and the unnamed driver responded.
"The Uber driver escalated this matter and confronted Marlon and Marlon never threw a punch," Patterson said. "Sadly, the Uber driver was able to get a warrant."
The driver said he was elbowed but it did not cause an injury.
"I have a feeling if Marlon Humphrey throws an elbow at an individual," Patterson said, "that individual would be hurt."
The lawyer also said it was clear the driver knew who Humphrey was, based on statements from witnesses at the scene.
"Marlon is saddened by this because he knows it's an honest mistake," Patterson said. "He's confused and perplexed as to how an Uber driver could go down and be able to secure a warrant for his arrest over something so simple and innocent. He realizes there are individuals out there who will not believe his side of the story but fortunately, we have eye witnesses that will support our position 100 percent."
Humphrey just completed the first of a four-year contract with the Ravens worth $11.8 million. The 16th pick in last year's draft started five of the 16 games in 2017, made 30 tackles and intercepted two passes.

Based on one of the quotes above, UAPD completely agrees with you. This right here
“In a situation like this, however, it is up to the alleged victim to decide whether to pursue a warrant for arrest and, ultimately, up to the magistrate to decide whether a warrant should be issued and for what charge.”
is the PD version of saying the felony charge is BS.

Bobby wasn't known for great decision making. Instead of running through opposing defenses, he spent his pro career running through hookers and blow. He notoriously held out on Denver trying to renegotiate his contract after one stellar season. Pissed off the front office and then showed up out of shape, and probably cost Denver a loss in the playoffs. Denver hated him and traded him to Miami. Miami = more hookers and blow. He got popped in a hotel room with a bunch of blow and his NFL career ended when his buddy shot him in the leg. He should have been on the greats but Bobby has to be one of the biggest busts ever to come out of Bama.
To be fair, he seems to have cleaned up his act and is doing well these days.
