Those penalties seem light as hell to me.

I think NCAA can always impose more penalties if necessary.

Yeah they admitted to the $180K payment. That is USC/Alabama type sanctions forthcoming

Not only that but it was embezzled from a Children's Hospital. I don't think you could ask for a worse look than that.

they will get a slap on the wrist. we all know how this ends.

Seems like they're trying to avoid program crippling sanctions by pre-emptively giving themselves a hard slap on the wrist. I don't think 8 scholarships is gonna get it done though. Not for $180,000 in cash payments that was stolen from a fricking children's hospital.

Right answer. 8 scholarships is a significant slap. If they are going that far on their own there’s a lot of worry in the bayou.

$180k in payments to a player is not going to be mitigated by a loss of 8 scholarships over two years.

LSU is about to get hammered

They have to be concerned with getting hit with lack of institutional control at this point. Having both revenue sports buried with sanctions at the same time would totally gut their athletics department.

Good... I hate their fanbase. They are melting pretty hard and a few are trying to divert the blame.to us

Wait what? How are they blaming us for them getting caught cheating?

Notre Dame only lost 1 scholarship when a booster embezzled $1.2 million from their employer and showered gifts on players, WAY too harsh.

Not comparable in any way.
That was way back in 1998. The NCAA has an entirely different punishment matrix in place today. You cannot apply 1998 rules to 2017 crimes.
Even setting that aside, she gave benefits to her player boyfriend and his pals. That’s a FAR cry from giving $180k stolen from a children’s hospital to the family of a recruit.

Don't wish anything bad on them, but they look like us during the Albert Means situation. Flat out denial and deflections, NCAA is looking for that big fish.

If the NCAA is still trying to kill teams who are particularly arrogant and dismissive through the process, LSU is in a world of trouble. It's been a while since I've seen a program push all their chips in like this and particularly on a basketball coach. A basketball coach, in the SEC, and it's not Kentucky! Times are a-changing. And the Cajuns continued disdain for the NCAA process is kinda fascinating to watch.
