The defense can have a rah rah meeting all they want with Scott C as the ringleader.

Nick should replay the game one time, in front of the whole team, right before practice starts and we should be good.

Tape doesn't lie, good and the bad. The players and coaches that didn't meet expectations need to get their asses in gear for 12/29

They are some of the most inexperienced starters we have ever thrown out at ILB (under Saban) and we have them doing so as a pair.

They have all heard “Murray is going to torch us” stuff.

Sounds like they’ve been reading this forum, then. The general consensus, here, is that Murray and OU hang 220 points on us.... by halftime.

Q Williams should prepare for the amount of downvotes headed his way by “Bama fans.”

He should also read this forum so he will know that even if the defense plays perfect, OU is still going to hang 300 on us because, when executed right, it’s impossible to stop that kind of offense.

Quinnan and I were under the mistaken impression that the defense was allowed to have as many players as the offense.

run a “soul crushing” run game like Army.

I don’t believe this for some reason

Did Mac run to Instagram and post some pic?

Boz, what's your take on Locks? I think he has regressed as the year went along. I just dont understand why he doesn't run the ball more. Nick always preaches "take what the defense gives". If Nick is going to make a move either way. I am hoping it's sooner than later.

That would be such a depressing development... If we go back at all towards ball control and not letting our athletes catch passes I'll be pretty sad

What board are you reading?

Because some people disagreed with you that Bama could hold OU to 17 or less points that must mean those folks believe Bama has no shot to even slow down that offense? No in between?

It hurt his feelings that a bama board wouldn't gump as hard as he did.

He seemed to get pretty cute with things when frankly we didn’t need too. John Doe pointed out a few instances. I think we need to take what a defense gives, and our run game is stout when it’s been needed.

Yea, stop using your eyes and being objective. IF YOU DON'T THINK WE CAN HOLD OKLAHOMA TO LESS THAN 20 POINTS YOU ARE PROBABLY A BARNER.

When has it been stout? Against bad run defenses (like Oklahoma and thus the run game thing with jalen does make sense there). The run game has almost 0 shot of working consistently with this offensive line and the style we run now against Clemson if we have to depend on it.

#7 Mississippi St - 45 carries, 142 yards (3.16 YPA)
#9 Texas A&M - 28 carries, 109 yards (3.89 YPA)
#29 Missouri - 45 carries, 184 yards (4.09 YPA)
#37 Auburn - 26 carries, 123 yards (4.73 YPA)
#39 LSU - 37 carries, 281 yards (7.59 YPA)
#49 Georgia - 29 carries, 157 yards (5.41 YPA)

We also ran it well against State in the first half, so that number is a bit deceiving.

I wouldn't say we're just punching people in the mouth, but we've run it pretty well against solid run defenses. It's definitely not our bread and butter, but I think the RPO stuff kind of makes it that way.

Surprised that number vs uga isn’t higher. Felt like we were gashing them. Can’t believe we didn’t run more

Over the few years our run game has slowly morphed from getting consistent 5-6 yards gains, to more 3 yards or less carries, then popping a long one.

Yep, it's what Saban wanted. Explosion > steady efficiency. You end up giving up something somewhere.

Those are better than I thought.

We have had awful luck breaking big runs this year, our explosiveness has been really low and it doesn't make sense considering even bad rushing offenses at least bust a couple of explosive runs a game.

Explosiveness trumps efficiency in terms of offense, that's probably the biggest change Saban has made and one that when its all said and done we need to trumpet the loudest, it's rare to see a defensive minded old school coach adapt so quickly to a complete change in how football and winning games offensively is played.

Yea, the explosiveness thing has been kind of weird. I assume it has to do with the RPO stuff? Guys not getting blocked at the 2nd level maybe? I really don't know, that's too advanced for my non-football brain.

I have talked to some people who do much better film study/review than I do and honestly a lot can just get chalked up to players making good one on one tackles/getting lucky and getting the fingertip that slows down the carrier just enough.

Also yes the RPO's drastically change downfield blocking from WR's so that probably has an effect too.
