It’s supposed to be for acknowledging good comments that contribute to the discussion. While downvotes are for those being uncivil or trolls. However people on all social media sites treat it as agree and disagree options.

It really doesn’t mean much but then again non of this does.

Thanks. I basically assumed that to be the case but noticed that a lot of folks seemed very concerned about what the other posters thought of their posts...guess it's just a maturity thing.

I don't give two shits or a frick about votes. I take part in discussion and I dole out votes based on the quality of the post. Sometimes I don't vote at all. I wish they would do away with the feature honestly. Too many people get their feelings hurt when their post gets downvoted. I just think the post, not the poster should receive the votes. I catch quite a few downvotes because I sometimes tell the ugly truths that sunshine pumpers don't want to hear like Ben Davis being a bust. It is true but it's like I am a bad guy or troll for saying it.

On the other hand last year boz told us that Davis was on the scout team and just wasn't very good yet he was upvoted and thanked for the update like he should have been. The rest of us aren't allowed to bring up the negatives or we are labeled trolls or told we don't know what we are talking about. When I told you guys last September that Hurts wasn't very good quarterback I was mocked and told I just didn't know football so nobody took me seriously all year long.

The upvote/downvote thing is lame and childish. It is funny though over on the OT when someone gets 100 downvotes and no upvotes.

Do you see the difference between the two statements I've bolded? One (from CrimsonBoz) is a statement of fact, sprinkled with some opinion; the other (from you) is complete opinion, which may or may not be true.

Personally, I abhor labeling any player a "bust" just because he hasn't panned out in the timeframe you arbitrarily assign. As was mentioned in another thread, two linebackers in recent years -- Tana Patrick and Jerrell Harris -- didn't contribute much until their senior seasons, yet were instrumental in significant wins.

Your posts get downvoted for this reason, in my opinion. You state your opinion as fact, and then you complain when people disagree with you.

First Patrick and Harris weren't number one rated consensus five stars playing scout team three years in. Second, I used part of my opinion on Boz's facts. Third I have no problem ever with someone disagreeing with me. It is the personal attacks I take issue with

Fourth, it isn't rocket science. Based on where Ben Davis was ranked coming out of high school he most certainly deserves the bust label. We need inside bodies badly, he was the number one ranked ILB in America three years ago yet is working fourth string or worse on the outside. So sure, you may not call him a bust but I think most reasonable fans that following recruiting, football practice, internet articles and inside information would easily see that the kid is a bust. But hey, maybe he sees the field on special teams his senior year and you guys can come back and say I was wrong if you want to.

Yes, and he's saying that you calling Davis a 'bust' is a personal attack on Davis.

Nobody with any sense gives 2 rats' asterisks about upvotes or downvotes. They only serve to give crappy lurkers the illusion of participation.

I am not attacking Davis bro. Get out of here with that bull shite. But in fairness, if his feelings are hurt reading it he should RA my post and Salsa will nip that shite right in the bud.

But back on topic. I hope Williams can demand centers to need help from a guard on running plays this year.

I agree that you are not wanting nor intending to attack Davis. However, some would completely disagree and say that even if you are not intending to attack Davis personally, you very much are doing that exact thing.

The simple fact is that these players are giving their all for the university, and many people, myself included, are sensitive to other fans and posters speaking negatively about the players personally.

I have no problem with you, or anyone else, critiquing the performance of the players. But I think you going this far out of your way to call Davis a bust and then defend those words so vociferously is the very definition of personally attacking a player.

I also know that you are too narrow-minded and proud to try to see it that way. So, keep doing you, friend. That's all that's going to happen anyway.

Spare me the lecture you give everybody. You can disagree without typing a paragraph but you are probably too narrow minded to see that so you do you slick, that's all that's gonna happen anyway.

Commander Data, do you remember this?

quote:

I would hate to do it but I. Buggs would likely be our best option at nose when we are in base. He is big enough and strong enough plus we are deeper at DE so we could afford to move him. The problem though is that in 2018 there really isn't anybody on the roster that fits at nose. I won't lie, I am pretty Damon concerned about it.

quote:

To expand on the issue, Who do you think the starter is? The backups? Quinnen Williams isn't a true nosegaurd type and every year we hear that this year he is gonna break out but he doesn't. We have Johnny Dwight who hasn't done much of anything and isn't a nosegaurd type. We have Phidarian Mathis a red shirt freshman who I guess may have the size for it but who couldn't crack the lineup last year at a position We needed depth at. Then all you have left is Stephon Wynn who is a true freshman who should be pretty good but not as SEC ready as a Payne or Robinson etc.

Those were from here: LINK /.

Six months ago, you were suggesting Isaiah Buggs was our best option at nose guard, and saying Quinnen Williams wasn't a true nose guard type. Now ...

quote:

I said an undersized Williams wouldn't be up to the task but after reading the latest bol article and reading Saban's updates on him he is being described as a freak. Still have to play but it appears as if I was worrying for nothing as usual and I am pumped to see the line now that the middle may be elite again.

It's okay to be pessimistic. I am too, much of the time. But I swear, man, you've elevated it to an art form.

Dude, I prefaced my post saying those exact things. I doubted that Williams could pull it off and was worried like hell about it. That was the whole reason I started this thread bro because that article eased my worries. Not sure what your point is when this thread was started because of the one you just pulled up. Geez dude.

Your first clue was the first line of my post saying most of you remember my concerns about nose tackle. Nice find though even if it was irrelevant because it was already covered and was the inspiration of this thread.

Yes, I can disagree any way I so choose to. But C'mon, man. Do you really want to be the guy that chastises others who type longer posts than you? Do you really want to advertise your lack of intelligence than plainly and openly?

Seriously, your posts and opinions are your own and you are welcome to share them. They often make you look stupid, but that's your choice. But then to pile on top of that idiot salad complaints about another person using too many words? On a website dedicated to communicating with words?

You are advertising to everyone that you believe having a command and knowledge of the language and making more use of it is bad. If you have children, do you similarly dissuade them from reading books, as they are filled with too many words? Do you tell everyone where you work that you need things dumbed down for you? Cause you are doing that here, right now.

We can and will continue to disagree. It's fine, and you sometimes add non-terrible things to the forum. We can coexist despite our disagreements. But I will never, ever kowtow to the likes of you: spokesperson for the willfully ignorant and chosen uneducated - those who attack others for doing things in a more educated way. You and your kind are a drain on society and the biggest reason that culture and society as a whole is heading toward the civilization depicted in the movie, Idiocracy.

You have a negative influence on the world, and I am here to fight against that influence.

There's no need for this. ^

We're on a message board talking about football in the state of Alabama of all places. C'mon

Look, prevatt, and all of us, we disagree with Commander Data sometimes. Sometimes I agree with what he's trying to say even if he doesn't convey it well. But often times it feels like the reason his posts come out a certain way if he does get antagonized by other posters. And, to be fair, perhaps sometimes he could be less antagonistic towards some of you. It goes both ways.

You won't have much to fight against now that Hurts is done. Most of my topics are positive other than a few worries here and there because I like to worry about things too much. It is in my nature.

It does, but some battles are worth fighting. The dumbing down of society is bad and needs to stop. And to make an omelette, sometimes you gotta break a few eggs.

I spoke plainly and openly to the kid, and didn't sugarcoat my words. And did it while speaking the truth. The world needs more of that, too.
