Brooks was our leading TD receiver in 2022. He was 3 yards short of being tied for leading yardage receiver and 1 reception from being tied for most receptions.

Through 4 games in 2023, he has 1 reception for 2 yards and was suspended for a half in the opener. Pretty clear he's in the doghouse but I haven't seen any rumors emerge as to why. It seems like he'd be a bigger impact than Benson who has seemingly gobbled up many of his snaps. Gotta imagine he did something stupid that our essentially 1b option last year can't even get on the field much.

He missed a couple blocks on the outside yesterday.

Matter of fact, our WRs and TEs all looked like shite blocking yesterday.

You can't whiff on blocks like he did yesterday.

He is starting to remind me of Jahleel Billingsley two years ago with his lack of effort and I don’t give a shite attitude. Hopefully it changes.

Wasn't Benson the number one JUCO prospect in the country? His film looked impressive.
I don't know about being in the doghouse, but it doesn't seem like Brooks has performed well when he's played this year. Maybe I'm wrong about that.

True. Shame about the sequence of events that followed.

Benson has not done much more than Brooks with seemingly more snaps. He was a a big time JUCO prospect so maybe that switch will flip soon. Like Hale getting on the field and making some big plays this weekend.

Probably fair to say Brooks has not played well enough to get his former percentage of snaps back.

I’d rather Niblack get Brooks reps

This is purely speculation, but my guess is that Benson may still be getting used to reading defenses.

In our offense, there is a lot of responsibility on WRs to read coverages and determine the route they should be running (we saw Bond make this mistake yesterday where he was supposed to sit in a zone, but kept working to the outside, and it caused Milroe to miss him on, what should have been, an easy completion).

This is one of the reasons why we often saw multiple WRs in the same area last year. Part of the blame goes to BoB and his route trees, but I think a major issue was WRs not reading the defenses correctly.

Benson has all the physical tools to be great, but I'm not sure how much experience he gained at the JUCO level related to reading defenses and determining the correct route.

Niblack is so talented. Just wish that the quarterbacks could consistently get him the ball occasionally.

Had a group of four finally get to their seats just before this.... Then they realized they were in the wrong side and as they were back tracking OM is punting.. The ladies stopped to figure out where they were going and they stopped the guys right in front of me. I got to hear the roar...

Unfortunately I did get to see the next three plays

I don't know if he's in the dog house. It could be that other guys have simply caught the ball better and more consistently than him.

As far as him blocking, I gotta tell you, as a group, the WRs SUCK at blocking. I blame Wggins on letting that go. Seriously, watch them. Anytime there is a toss sweep or a pass in the flats, at least one of the WRs completely whiffs on his block or they give it a half hearted effort and our guys gets tackled for a loss or no gain.

Probably by not being very good.

I’ve never seen a high 5 star be so unimpressive athletically.
