I've decided to adopt Sean McDonough's call of the final play as the official Bama Call

I love you Eli, but it sounded like you were calling a 3rd and 4 in the 1st half of the Iron Bowl. From now on, when I pleasure myself to this play, I shall only hear the words of 13 year old voice cracking Sean.
A little tidbit, Sean also has another of the great Alabama calls in 1999 vs Florida on CBS.
"Alexander, running behind the fullback McClintock, HE MAY GO! TOUCHDOWN!"
"That kick is........GOOD! And Alabama wins!"

I agree, the voice cracking gets me everytime.
Georgia Radio Network's call of the last two plays is gold too. Buddy tried to be funny by mispronouncing Tua's name on the sack only to nail it in the emotion of calling the TD. Like the guys on Jox said, "Life comes at ya fast!"

Honestly, Eli has never been that good. Go back and listen to his call of the 92 Miami game. Everyone watching on TV and in the stadium saw what happened, but he called Teague's strip of Lamar Thomas a fumble.

Yea - I like Eli generally because he is a pro. But he is at best a C- when it comes to calls that you want to play for the rest of your life. I honestly can't think of more than 1 or 2 that really get me excited. I think the one that is my favorite is the 1996 Auburn game. That's pretty sad considering the success we've had.

If you notice on Eli's call, he waits so long to tell you it's a TD Savage pipes in with that info first
we were listening to Eli and watching the game with the delay and Savage said TD before Tua had looked back the other way and I couldn't believe what I was hearing before the pass was thrown.

I don't get why people don't like him. His call of the Michigan vs Michigan State punt debacle game winner a few years ago is an all time call for me.

It might be because he was using binoculars. I noticed that while watching the Finebaum Filmroom edition. When Alabama got in the red zone they cut into the Alabama radio broadcast and had a camera on Eli and Savage. I thought that was pretty odd...the play by play guy watching through binoculars. He may was well watch a TV monitor.

Totally agree - I love him. The excited voice crack is a positive, not a negative. And unlike Gus Johnson he doesn't lose his mind all the time, so when he does it's a big deal.
