It's hard to believe...but this year is the 2009 championship team's 10-year anniversary

I look back on that season with pride. I was a 22-year-old student at The University of Alabama and in awe with the fact that we had a team preseason ranked in the Top 5. I remember going to Fan Day on that hot August afternoon and watching the team go through their warm-ups. All the while I was thinking, "THIS is what a champion looks like."

And they proved it that season. I was there for every home game, cheering on the Tide as they piled up victory after victory. That 2009 LSU game still remains as one of my all-time favorite to attend. When that sun went down and the fourth quarter got underway, Bryant-Denny became freaking electric. Clinching the SEC West at home never felt so good!

And who can forget that night we passed over Florida to become the premier team in the Southeastern Conference? That was the highlight of the season. The game against Texas, while super stressful at the time, almost feels like an anti-climax with a decade's worth of hindsight.

While we've had some more talented teams roll through Tuscaloosa since that time, the 2009 Alabama Crimson Tide remain the only team in the Saban Era to achieve perfection. 14-0. Roll Tide!

I was in attendance both games, and agree with this exactly. That 4th quarter in Atlanta was just one big fricking party, never celebrated at a game like that. The Javy interception to bag it, Tebow tears, Ingram/Julio gator chomp/tying up the gator mouth on the sidelines, Urban “heart issues” we learned about later. That game was the snatching of the torch from Florida.

The Texas game, while unforgettable in its own right, was just a weird feeling the entire second half. We basically got lulled into a false sense of security, and a few Jordan Shipley strikes later, it was all of a sudden a game. Then we made a few plays and put it away again. But even then I remember the douchy rose bowl folks rushing us out of the stadium when we all wanted to celebrate and soak it in.

My all time favorite season. Cody's block is still the loudest moment in the history of Alabama football.

I also remember Mack Brown immediately throwing Garrett Gilbert under the bus after the kid had really played better than most would have expected being put in such a horrific position. He transferred out of Texas and went on to be very good at SMU while Texas has had terrible QBs up until their current one. Very karmic, in my opinion.

I'll never forget going to A-Day that year and leaving knowing Alabama had a chance to beat Florida because of how nasty the defense was. All I could think about that year was what advantages and disadvantages Alabama had to get back to the SECCG.
