No I do not. Mcelwain coached when Bama had unreal talent on defense. Bama has talent deficiencies. Back in those days, they had one or more elite players in every position group.
They have maybe have one on offense and probably none on defense now. Especially the DLine. Nope.

So if the situation is that bad, why would Ezell...or anyone else...want the job?

Ezell is an up and coming star. He has a bright future. Maybe he asks himself why should he jeopardize that future coming to the situation you described to work for a guy that is failing. Maybe he's thinking that if he waits, he can come back to Bama with DeBoer's successor.

That's sounds great but after hearing Deboers resounding adulation for Grubbs play calling, I'm afraid all this wishing is for nothing.

Ezell would an idiot to jeopardize that up and coming status to come work for DeBoer, just to get fired with the rest of the staff in another year or two when DeBoer gets canned.

Honestly, I’d prefer Ezell for a lot of reasons, but the biggest is probably my homerism. He was one of my favorite players (and impressionists) and he’s an Alabama guy.

You are exactly right. I wouldn't be at all surprised at the end of the season if Greg Byrne tells CKD that Grubb has to go. This will especially be the case if Bama drops two more games (a real possibility).

Heck, he might say both coordinators have to go.

I like what Ezell does. It’s a spread, the people who want us to line up in the I and run the tailback 35 times won’t be happy, but as much as a spread can be a power offense it’s a power offense. The RBs are actually involved.

I think Keelon would do well in it.

I'd take Bob back over Grubb (just threw up a little), at least he knew how to corridnate a heisman contender.

If Greg Byrne calls DeBoer in and tells him either one coach or fourteen coaches are getting fired, DeBoer will fire Grubb.

DeBoer's buyout at the end of the season is $68 million.

Grubb's contract ends in Feb 2027 so we won't approve a new contract, but we aren't firing DeBoer.

Honestly, if it take Greg Byrne stepping in and making demands like that, then we have bigger problems.
