Let’s say Harbaugh takes the Chargers spot next week, even 2-3 weeks from now. A player or two transfers to Bama from Michigan. Would they be allowed to transfer immediately, enroll, and participate in spring?

Only if the University President does like UGA and over ride the add/drop deadline.

The University of Alabama add/drop deadline for the spring semester is January 17th

Transfer yes participate in spring I don’t know because classes have started and don’t know how anyone enrolled in classes is being allowed to transfer now. There seems to be no rules at all.

I’m sorry if I am responding incorrectly but this is a general follow up thought….

If the guys visiting Bama this weekend decide to transfer, I wonder will they get in…

I hope they do. I hope Austin Mack works out(even though I’m Team Ty). I want nothing but the best for my alma mater. Again, RTR & FTR.

I hope we can snag a few in the portal if/when Harbaugh leaves. especially if Michigan goes after Kelly.

I have no inside information what so ever but I think some of our issues will be addressed this weekend. The only hold up could be larger NiL deals to be had for some of these transfers and there’s nothing we can do about that.

This is exactly where my thought process went. IF UM goes after Kelly would we get transfers in before spring bc those hires will be made a few weeks from now as soon as Harbaugh pulls the trigger.

Football is an essential marketing operation for undergraduate admissions. If DeBoer needs a player, the VP or Presidential override necessary will be signed. Same deal at any other school interested in competing at this level.

Do you think even if there is a transfer window opened for school X in mid-Feb, Bama still gets transfers from that school in time for spring?

It would be great if so..

This is one of the many reasons UA should be on the Quarter system rather than semesters.

Not only is it better for students for many reasons, but the Spring Quarter would start in March/early April and allow transfers to go through spring. Many of the old Pac-12 schools (Oregon, Washington, WSU, Cal, etc.) have a spring quarter.

If a coach leaves players get special exemptions to leave and it would most likely be 30 days.

These rules will be changed soon for the better and all the Barners, Paper Bengal Tigers, and Bullfrogs will bitch till the end of time that Bama didn't like something and got the rules changed because of the SEac offices in Birmingham.
