The Auburn game wasn't an abberation. We saw it coming a mile down the road. In fact, many predicted we would struggle vs Auburn after the FSU game. Our lone loss didn't come via some 4th qtr fluke in the final minutes. We were soundly defeated.
We struggled vs. MSU, TAM came down to an onside kick, and we even struggled vs Tennessee in the first half. LSU was one Fitzgerald or Stidham away from beating us.

The fact is we haven't looked good all year aside from Vanderbilt and Ole Miss.

We're now in a playoff with 3 teams all better than any we've played so far. I guess my point is that we all feel good now because we got in, but don't forget how god-awful we've looked lately. We need some DRASTIC changes somewhere over the next few weeks. We can't win on crossing our fingers and because we're Alabama. This team needs fixing.

If Boz's info is correct on Tua, that could be the kind of drastic change we need. It's gotta be something is all I'm saying

All the other games are the past...This is a new season. We ve been here before so I'd bet on us more than the others. Clemson is only other team that knows this kind of stage

And Tua will be that change.

Some people suggest that we are going to revamp the offense and take out all the decision making ... a pure RPO. But to me that is like trashing our offense and starting over. That’s more radical than just changing the QB.

I believe the Tua rumors to a point. But I doubt he starts. More than likely, he shares prep time and is prepared to go when Jalen struggles. Jalen will be on a very short leash and, unlike Auburn, there will be a plan B.

The exact same problems have been plaguing us all season and into the last quarter of last season.

The last 4 games of 2016 (Auburn, Florida, Washington, Clemson) it was painfully clear there were fundamental problems with our offense. The offense would disappear for entire halves or even whole games, going 3 and out regularly, over and over, struggling to convert third downs.

We have a lot of talent on offense but things have not gelled into a cohesive unit.

We rely too much on the big play and not enough on sustained drives. It makes our offensive stats at the end of the game look ok, but typically an 80 yard TD drive is better than an 80 yard play.

A lot of it is coaching but some of it is the personnel. The oline hasn't been playing as well, the QB's skill set is different than we're used to, and the RB situation has been bizarre (injuries, weird juggling of them, etc.)

I just think we need to commit to a particular style and system and just work on it. We have no identity offensively and no real themes.

Anytime I hear anyone say the word "hybrid" I die a little bit inside.

As much as I love Jalen, i just don't see an answer with him on offense. He's the kinda guy we could possibly win a natty with if we had an all-world ridiculous defense, but we don't have that this year. We need a wide open balanced offense, and Tua gives us that with or without rookie mistakes

No I’m joking again. He did say it. It was in the long threat entitled something like “How do we go about beating Clemson “ or something like that.

I agree with the OP to a point but our defense was damn good this year until we were absolutely gutted with injuries. We should be much healthier come January 1. Now the issues on offense can’t be ignored. To me the primary issues are OL play and play calling. Hurts may be the best running QB in the nation and his passing is definitely better. When he struggles it’s usually because he has a guy in his face before he can even drop back and get set. That being the case, we should be throwing a lot more slants, quick outs, TE dumps, etc. Heck, how about a RB screen? So much we could be doing but aren’t. It’s like we’re calling plays for the IDEAL OL and QB instead of who we actually have. In the IB 77 was getting beat like a rented mule every pass play. Why not put a TE on his hip and give Jalen some time? Again, the main issues are OL and playcalling as my eyes see it.

IMO giving the ball to Harris and Jacobs and then letting the defense dominate. Keeping our defense rested is extremely important in my opinion.

If Tua plays we ll get destroyed, its equivalent to throwing up a white flag. We play ball control and attack the weakness in the Clemson secondary. Oklahoma was in playoffs 2 years ago but how many of their current players were on that team other than the douche bag at QB?

Well you know I’m a big Tua guy so I have a hard time agreeing with that. Of course, I wish he was more experienced, but if we follow your strategy ... possession football... but with Tua under center some, I think it is a bold move. But it might pay off.

I like Tua as well, just tough to put him in at this point unless JH gets injured. Fwiw im confident jalen wants whatever is best for the team and would be onboard with a Tua package...As would I.

What are you basing this on? The interception against Tennessee? At worst with Tua at the helm this team is in the same position. I can think of about 5 passes that Jalen threw that were dropped interceptions and don't get me started on the pass across his body he threw against Auburn. Saban asks Jalen to do the minimum if we're honest. I have full confidence Tua can at least do the minimum in the same offense.
