This was inspired by CFB Nerds preview of our game. Check it out on YouTube they do great stuff
Yards per attempt is a really good measure when looking at passing defense efficiency. Tennessee allows 6.9 yards per passing attempt. Not great at #51 in the country. Especially when you consider the passing offenses they’ve played.
Rankings of Tennessee’s Opponents on Yards per passing attempt
37th Pitt (Slovis didn’t play in the 2nd half)
70th Florida
93rd LSU
94th Ball State
106th Akron
shite passing offenses are coming in and having success. Are we an elite passing team? No but we have an amazing quarterback and an emerging group of receivers. If Bryce is close to his usual self, I think we’ll have the opportunity to score at will

Anthony Richardson threw for 453 yards against UT.

just to put it in perspective, most of Richardson's games this season have looked very similar to Milroe's performance last weekend.

Yep - the best way to slow down our passing attack is to trust your DBs to play man and not let our WRs get off the LOS. Teams that have been able to do that have found some success.
Tennessee won't/can't do that, and if you let our little young guys get off the LOS, they can find gaps and scoot. And Bryce can pick and pop all over the field. And then, at that point, they have to make choices about how to try and stop it, and that gives Gibbs and Co. a whole lot of room and options.
Bryce playing in this game is such a massive deal because (a) he's incredible but also (b) it is the biggest mismatch of the game (Bryce vs their secondary). If he doesn't play we not only lose a great player and replace him with a very raw one, we lose the biggest advantage of either team in the game and allow them to play to their strengths on defense (pass rush, run defense).
It's one of those situations where Bryce playing literally makes everything about our offense 2-3x better because of the defensive matchup.

Which they appear to be legit good at. But I hesitate to say we won’t get ours if the passing game is competent

Ever since the 2nd half of the Ark game, our defense has looked exceptionally good. Tenn hasn't seen anything like it.
