I’m not disparaging Saban.. and Bryant’s bowl record isn’t great.. But remember, in his early years Bowls weren’t really even counted towards the season.

I lived through both eras as well. I just don’t think it’s as cut and dried that Saban is better than Bryant, despite the narrative from younger fans.

Paul Bryant is the Patriarch of Alabama Football.. Even Saban says he built on top of what Bryant did before him.

Both coaches were legends, and each was the greatest in his respective era. Both of them inspired confidence in their players that they were going to win based on superior preparation.

Bear Bryant could have and would have won in any era.
Coach Saban would have done the same thing.
Coach Bryant coached and influenced people. A master motivator.
Coach Saban coached The Process.
Both were absolute GOATS.
Not much to choose between two flawless diamonds.

I also love the down votes for having the opinion that Saban and Bryant are Co-Goats. Cognitive thinking is a lost science.

On a Mt Rushmore of college coaches, you could easily argue Bama coaches would take 3 spots...not just the obvious two.

Having to argue between Bear and Nick is such an Alabama problem.

True. But it’s just comparing not arguing. They both dominated their eras.

believes Nick Saban and Paul Bryant are equally the greatest of all time. Co-GOATs.

They both won 6 at Bama.

Saban is respected.

Bryant is revered.

Bryant is the GOAT. A giant. A man among men. A legend. His former players still choke up when they talk about him. From absolute poverty to playing for Bama, only to come home to coach "when Mama called."

Saban's run was more compressed, and therefore more impressive and dominant in its own way.

But for the reasons I state above, I give a slight but confident nod to Bryant.
