10 is the absolute floor and anything less would be a huge disappointment. We have too many weapons on offense, a strong enough defense, and a good enough coach to get at least 10.

Yeah, too much talent for anything LESS than 10 wins to be the expectation with our schedule.

I just hope the early games are tough and it hardens this team for the later games against LSU, the Grinders, and the Barners.

I laughed.

I'm not saying Bama will hit the cellar this year.
I'm just making the point that it isn't impossible to have a bad year this year.

edit:
Apparently humor goes over my head.

I was being sarcastic. Last year I was trying to be realistic in saying I figured bama would go 9-3/8-4 and I wasn't too far off.

I figure as long as they're +.500 we're alright.

Obviously you were talking about the regular season. Alabama was 11-1. That's actually pretty far off from 9-3 and a lot different than 8-4. People predicting 12-0 were closer than you were.

Sigh.

I'm not trying to be DD4Bama... but really?
Needling him about this is just silly.

I don't really feel like I'm needling him. Just pointing out that people who were expecting 12-0 last year were closer than his "realistic" expectation of 8-4 or 9-3.

If we don't finish with a Top 10 ranking this season with the amount of talent on the roster then we shite the bed royally.

Lol why so harsh man?

I thought this was a safe place. I guess not if you're a realist.

Sorry big guy, bama won't go 14-0 every single year unless you're playing the NCAA dynasty.

Slap that panic button!!!!!!!!

My post was not directed to you but the OP. I just replied.

Replacing a QB will always be concern but if AJ can do what he did I believe Coker has a legit shot as well if he is as good as advertised.

In regards to OL still not concerned and DB I think we have better options and more depth this year with more experience. I am not a big fan of Cyrus or Bradley last season but I believe they have to improve with more practice.

Actually better since we play in LA. We are 2-1 at their place under Saban and 3-1 in their state. So LSU win is a lock.

Nick Saban makes $7million a year. What's the point of that if we are content with being slightly above average. Saban should not lose more than 3 games a year as long as he coaches here. I don't think that's unreasonable.

Agree. shite can happen though (2013 UGA, for instance) and he gets a mulligan but with the talent he brings in we shouldn't feel bad for expecting 10 wins a year. Anything more is great and doesnt come often but anything less is a disappointment.

You think my post was harsh?

I didn't say I expected Alabama to go undefeated this year or any year. (By the way - I don't expect them to be undefeated this year).

I simply pointed out that between your "realistic" expectation of 8-4 or 9-3 regular seasons last year and other presumably "unrealistic" expectations of 12-0, the 12-0 camp was actually closer to reality. If that was too harsh then my apologies.

And frick this (sorry to be harsh). If Alabama goes 7-6 this year, it would be considered the most disappointing season since 2000. Not saying it couldn't happen, but I don't anyone involved with the program would consider that to be alright.

Having high expectations is not necessarily a bad thing. I think that we'll have 3-4 true freshmen step and play big roles for us much like what happened in 2008 with Ingram, Julio, and Hightower. The incoming talent is insane.

It's very possible that we have at least one true freshman starting at DB and another that will see significant playing time. Rumor has it that the coaches absolutely adore Tony Brown and believe Marlon Humphrey to be a consummate perfectionist who is very dedicated, very smart and very focused.

I am being sarcastic dude.

So many sunshine pumpers it is laughable. Carry on!

Defense won't have the heart of the 2009 team nor the talent of the 1992 team.

Only thing I hope is Saban let's kiffin have full reign just to see what he can come up with. That A day scrimmage didn't look very promising for the offense.

I don't see A&M's defense being any better, and they won't beat us with a freshman QB, but I agree with the other two as possibles.

A friend of mine is a manager on the football team. He said that the offense was very vanilla on A-Day and that Kirby Smart was screaming at both defenses which play the offense was running next. Bottom line, the defense knew exactly what the offense was throwing at them on virtually every single play.
