Starve yourself from hearing Sweet Home Alabama for at least 9 months before going to game day.

The museum is a must see. Get there Friday and check it out. It is one of the most awe inspiring things in all of college football. The trophy case alone brings chill bumps seeing it.

Few tips (first, welcome!)
(1) Tickets: Scalp on gameday. Provided you are looking for 2, and Tennessee lives up to their potential of being totally irrelevant again, LL tickets in the EZ's or the corners are going to run you 250-300 for the pair. Not bad at all.
(2) Food/Drink: If you get in early, go to the Original Dreamland BBQ off of Old Jug Factory Road. The Ribs, white bread, sauce, tea, and banana pudding served on tables that have sat Presidents and famous coaches alike are still standing as they were in those moments in time. Really a fun experience.
Outside of that and a few other BBQ spots like Archibalds, food is pretty good up and down University Blvd. I'd actually say drive into downtown, eat at one of the spots around there, and continually stop to imbibe at watering holes from there down to the Strip.
Example would be: Eat at "Sweet Home Food Bar," grab a drink at Moes, mozy to Inisfree to check out the non-football talent, walk down to the strip and hit Gallettes or Rounders, which is right by the stadium.
(3) Lodging: Like most college towns, availability and prices really make this a disaster. Best bet is to stay on the westside of Bham on I-459. Probably a 45 minute drive.
(4) Other things to do: Tuscaloosa will be a scene on gameday weekends, so spend most of your time there. Birmingham isn't a bad place for a Friday night, but, if you've been to Des Moines, Springfield, or any places of a kind - you've been to Birmingham. Bear Bryant museum is cool for those new in town. Honestly, I'd start at the tip of fraternity row on University and just walk around the campus. It's really a beautiful place.

First, awesome!!! You'll have a great time. Bring a good cigar for the after game festivities.
Second, on the off chance Bama were to lose, the bandwagon will be parked outside the stadium to gladly take you back home. Once there, you will be issued your choice of Big 10 apparel. Also, you will be required to register as an official streak jinx with your the local REC office and not allowed travel to any UA athletic event without prior approval.
Thanks in advance.
Safe travels.
