First of all, you don't celebrate second place. But, it was a good season and I'm actually happy for Dabo and Clemson. Those players were thrilled to win it and it was tough to stay mad while watching all those guys realize their dream.

Sark didn't have a negative effect. Saban didn't lose this one. We lost because Clemson wanted it more, not that our guys didn't want it a lot, but those Tigers would not be stopped.

I think we need to remember that Jalen is young and should improve. I don't think he'll ever be a phenomenal passer, but I think Sark's tutelage can make him a good passer. I'm really interested in seeing the offense next season, we return a lot and I'm excited for the Sark Era.

On defense, they did their job for most of the game. But offensively we couldn't sustain drives and the defense has to play nearly 100 snaps. No defense is going to hold up for that long. They left everything on the field.

Don't blame the refs, that's beyond stupid. Even if they missed calls, they're only human and it happens. Don't act like those LSU fans who scream and cry about officiating. We're better than that.

We bring back our QB, all of our RBs (add the #1 overall player at RB), our top 2 WRs (unless Stewart leaves - plus we add another 5 star WR), and 4/5 of the OL plus all our reserve TEs who played a bit. The offense will be experienced and talented with a proven offensive mind at the helm. I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do.

Defensively, the front 7 loses a lot. But the secondary returns a lot. We'll see what that means for that side of the ball. Right now, the only loss is Marlon Humphrey if he goes pro, but there's a solid chance he stays. In which case, we'd return the entire secondary. Obviously we lose Eddie Jackson, but he was out of the lineup for half of the season because of his injury. The secondary will have the chance to be really special, we bring back SDH and Evans at ILB, but some guys are gonna have to step up on the edges to get after passers. We've got the talent to do that, they just lack experience. Payne should be an enforcer in the middle, and in his final season Hand is due for a breakout year.

All in all, FSU better watch out.

It should be the first time in many years that the secondary is actually the strength of the defense, rather than the Achilles heel. There will inevitably be a big drop off defensively. They're losing too much from a historically great defense.

Offense is a question mark. Hurts will have to make huge strides. If not, they should throw the QB competition back open. Unlike many, I have zero confidence in Sarkisian after Monday night.

Realistically, I expect a dropoff next year. On paper 2018 seems more realistic for another run.

The defense still should be solid next year. As long as the offense is better, the defense can afford a drop off. It won't be a huge drop off, Saban has had a top ten defense just about every year since 08.

The defense is still loaded with talent, the entire starting D line will be 5 star players, could have 2-3 5 star linebackers start, with 2-3 more in the secondary.

The offense has a chance to be Saban's best if Hurts can progress as a passer. The OL should be the best since 12, WR still loaded and one of the best running back corps that Bama has had. Also, I think we need to give Sark more then a week as OC, before we lose confidence in him.

With the SEC still down next year and a favorable schedule, Bama should be 11-1 or 12-0. The toughest team Bama will play is FSU.

Bama will likely lose more impact players after 17 then they did after this year. The SEC should be much better in 18 with all the young QB that played this year.

Defense falls back to an "average" Saban defense next year which means merely top 5,instead of historic.
Offense-All depends on Jalen. He'd better already be working on his passing game. If not, Tua will push him. Tua isn't ready, but obviously neither was Jalen. I like Jalen. He did some great things this season, but he hit a wall big time and the flaws were in neon. All the tools are around him except maybe at G and C. We've got to get better in the interior OL. It's been a sore spot since Barrett Jones left. Gotta replace a kicker too. Keep your fingers crossed on that one.
